This is their conclusion, which says it all. :) "All we can say is that the P60ZT65 has more than lived up to its billing and is, quite simply, the best plasma TV we have ever seen. Time to put those KUROs on eBay guys."

Strange he mentions Kuros again, he has already said the GT60 was better than the Kuro, it don't take a genius to work out this one would be better too.

I think that's because people bought the best TV at the time, the Kuro. ZT65 is the best TV of this time, even better than the GT60.

Personally, I'm looking at VT65 vs ZT65 but only after moving my house end of this year or early next year.

You are a gamer though aren't you? Does the image retention problems concern you?

Our gaming days are numbered, with junior BB coming in November. Even projector plans shelved (got to be practical). :)

If we allow junior BB to draw on the Panasonic, I dread what will happen to our friends' TVs. :O

Looking at upgrading my TV after we move to a new place, and the Kuro will be relegated to the bedroom or gym room.

Sensible move I'd say. I reckon the only that would interest me is the GT60 and it all depends if John Lewis get them probably.

I'm not sure waiting will result in a worthwhile saving on the ZT65. Being a limited edition, it'll hold its value, in terms of retail price and eventually on the second hand market.

It sounds like a fantastic TV (an ANSI MLL of 0.003 cd/m2 is not to be sniffed at), but I'd be slightly concerned about bright room performance. There's quite a difference between a peak ANSI brightness reading of 53 cd/m2 (ZT65) and 92 cd/m2 (VT65). In a batcave or studio, the ZT65's ANSI contrast and peak brightness is fine, but I wonder how practical a solution this is as a living room TV. The lower peak brightness will also have a knock-on effect with 3D. In any case, I doubt these numbers will upset the most ardent videophiles.

I'm not suggesting for a moment that the VT65 is a better TV (it's not). If offered a straight swap, it'd be a no-brainer.

Price does seem to be coming down:

I can already see ZT65 retailing for £3499. If there are no more ZT65s left, then I'll go for VT65.

The reason for me to hold is not due to current prices. I see no point in installing a new TV and changing cabling etc. in my current house when I'm planning to sell it in a few months time. Also, I do not want to risk transporting a relatively new TV when moving house.

Has anyone seen an image of the gold plaque on the back? I really want to see it.

Apparently there was no gold plaque on the back of the AV sample one!

All of which is fair enough.

Buying and selling houses isn't the most fun. The last time I moved, the first buyer pulled out at the last minute; the surveyors report on the house I was going to buy flagged up a history of subsidence in the area; and the owners of the second house I was going to buy decided they didn't want to move a week before completion. I eventually sold my house to ensure the sale, moved in with a friend temporarily, and ultimately bought a house in need of complete refurbishment (which took me two years to finish).

Not sure why I mention all this, other than to observe that buying a TV isn't that important by comparison. You've got bigger and more important things to focus on, especially with regard to BB Junior!

will need to see this going and see how much better it is than a well calibrated 5090 for the near £4k asking.

I am expecting big things but it needs to be to Big to get that much ££££ out of me over what I already see everyday.

The areas I can / would want to see improvements in exisitng set - in complete honesty is only really

- reducing the dither for a clearer more detailed picture? I think this is the main one for me how much this area has been improved

- Better movement when drawing dark over extreme white - I see some motion issues in this regard currently (depending drive mode selected)

- bigger - thats a given

- better energy consumption (looks pretty much the same but is bigger so that fair cop)

Where can one get a demo

I'm itching to join the discussion about the correct designation for BB (the next generation), but with some effort I'll confine myself to the ZT65 / VT65 issue. As the owner of 8th and 9th generation Kuros, I'm entirely comfortable that Panasonic plasmas are better than the my Kuro LX5090, although we first heard this said two years ago, with Panasonic's VT30 plasmas. The last of the Kuros was released almost five years ago, after all. However, to be colloquial, my Kuros ain't going no place, and certainly not on eBay. Last year I dearly wanted to get a Panasonic 65ST50, but I couldn't in the end get the money together. I'm likely to get enough money from one or maybe two sources this year to buy another TV. My present largest TV is the Samsung PS64D8000 in the parlour, with (in declining sizes) the LG60PZ950T in the kitchen, the Pioneer LX5090 in the second bedroom and the Pioneer 428XD in my bedroom. Yes, the new 60ZT65 sounds fantastic from Stephen Withers' review on AVForums, but in all honesty, I would have been quite happy with a 65ST50 from last year! Even if I were to win the lottery I wouldn't get a 60ZT65, because it's the wrong size for me - I can't go back to a 60" TV in the parlour after having had the 64" Samsung for over a year. So I'll be getting the only 65" plasma set in Panasonic's 2013 range, the 65VT65, which is two degrees better (the VT65 is better than last year's VT50, which was better than last year's ST50) than the TV which I wanted last year, and I'm sure that I'll be very, very happy with the 65VT65. This is to happen by Christmas, by which time I hope that prices will have fallen.

Upon getting the 65VT65 all my existing televisions will move down one room each, so one benefit is that the Pioneer LX5090 will end up in my bedroom, yippee! (the Pioneer 428XD will go to the box bedroom, the only main room currently without a TV). I'm looking forward to having a full 50" HD television in my bedroom 8 feet from my pillow. Just because Panasonic plasmas from 2011's VT30 onwards have surpassed the last of the Pioneer Kuros doesn't mean that the Kuros are suddenly bad televisions. I intend to keep mine for as long as they keep working. I can't speak for anyone else's Pioneer Kuros, but mine are not, repeat not, going on eBay.

Echo that! If it does leave the house it will be going to a friend of mine who has for years said "if you ever get rid of that TV, I want first refusal!". Not quite keeping it in the family, but next best thing.

Is your Kuro Calibrated are your current Pannys Calibrated?

To say categorically one is better than the other I would expect the answer to be yes - because if its no then you havent made a fair judgement on either set

It makes a bloody big difference to the image - and if 2 sets are equally calibrated to similar standards then and only then can you see if is better than the other and by how much.
