Just been informed by Panasonic that some series designations will be different for the UK, so have amended thread title accordingly.

European DT60 becomes DT65 in UK

WT60 becomes WT65

VT60 becomes VT65

ZT60 becomes ZT65

Does that mean they're one twelfth better in this country than elsewhere?

This is pretty good at showing how the VT50 performs in a bright room. Pretty impressive stuff!

As far as I can tell, the charts and figures show that the ST60 goes a little brighter than the ST50, but the ST60's colours are slightly more overcooked in its most accurate picture mode.

Otherwise, the two look almost identical, which is what many (including Panasonic insiders) have said about this television. That's all relatively good news, if Panasonic has managed to sort out screen uniformity problems this year.

For the right price, with a perfectly uniform screen, I'd be willing to give a 55" ST60 a chance.

Told ya!

Panasonic reps have been saying this for the last six months. All the action is taking place with the ZT65, which is prohibitively expensive and too large for most consumers.

The ST60 review doesn't say anything about the dirty screen effect and whether this has been sorted this year. There's some discussion of clouding being non-existent, but that's hardly worth knowing. With a full black screen, a plasma TV shouldn't show any evidence of clouding. We really need information about screen uniformity when there's some content on screen.

Perfect screen uniformity would make the ST60 a more viable purchase than its predecessor. Failing that, it's Samsung all the way for me...

Seeing as a few of us have had problems with Panasonic sets in recent years, and that in some cases these problems seem to have become more apparent after the initial 200-300 hr run in phase is there any chance that when reviewing the new sets the What HiFi team might be in a position to allow the sets to get past this phase? Just a an idea if time allows. Cheers

Which one is better then?

I have seen better calibration results than that for the VT50 - those look pretty average - especially the calibrated colours

2 of the 3 Main RGB colours are above 6DE - and the luminance is way off on all the sets ?? Should be nearly flat - confused how some resutls seemed to be calibrated some dont ? I am very tired reading this so I may have missed somehting

The full review is out later sometime today, perhaps we might know more then. It could be they use different tech to measure their results than others, and that is why the results are different - not sure though.

Yes, it seems inevitable. Are you buying a plasma this year then?

Dont know at the moment, might do but for my other lounge. I will still keep this as my main setup, as long as things continue to work well.

Hmmm....that's odd! That's significantly more than the ST50 & GT50! Are the screens brighter this year?

The Panasonic guy said brighter and blacker. Can't work out why so much though! :?

With the new Panasonic TVs getting closer and closer to release are we close to a What HiFi review of one of them? If so, which one will you be reviewing first, if you don't mind me asking?
