Indeed, panasonic's greatest TV the ZT60/65. For the amount of money though...it is a waste as OLED and 4k TV is the new kit in Town. Despite Panasonic's pretentions the future is OLED/Super Amoled and Quantum dot technology of edge lit LED for affordability.

Again, I wish people stop drooling about the deep blacks the Pana TV can produce....I know it is measured as 0.003 cdm/2...it's supremacy is undoubted and unchallenged but I like to see a world of colours on my TV and that means OLED is it with its wide colour gamut. Even the Sony W905a will beat the ZT models on the colour fedelity and I kid you not. Trust in science not miracles.

And please let's move on with the new.

1080p TV including the ZT models is only 2mb of an image;my Canon Eos mid market SRL can do 18mb images! Just go to show how behind the TV industry in the West is.

You seem to be a big fan of Sony. Anyway, I think you mean megapixels.

To be totally honest Ben, I don't actually think z058261 has a clue what he is talking about.

My VT65 now has mild vertical bands. At the moment they're nowhere near as severe as on all GT50s I went through, but they are there. Less of the screen is affected (it's really only the very right five percent); and the bands are less pronounced.

Fan noise and buzzing are non issues on this TV and I've been through too many replacements in recent months to believe that swapping out will make a difference.

Out of interest, how many hours to people have on their VT65s now? I've run mine near constantly since I got it and I'm now at the magic 200 hour mark. (I mean magic in that something's appeared out of nowhere.)

I first spotted the bands during Come Dine with Me this afternoon, during camera pans on a terracotta coloured wall. I'm watching Match of the Day now and can also spot them.

I'm slightly gutted; not least because this is a sensational TV in every other regard. I'm not sure what to do now.

Just seen this - first sign of a worrying issue when considering a new panny

I'm so sorry to hear about this, ellisdj, and you are a very experienced observer of Pansonic plasmas. Of course, it will still be under guarantee. The vertical bands appearing only now, after about 200 hours' use, will not of course have been seen during the magazine reviews. Perhaps if you wait another 200 hours and see if the vertical bands go away again, and stay away? Maybe with time, if the problem persists, you will feel able to try a replacement set?

What size is your VT65? If I come into some money, as I think I will before Christmas, I would get the 65VT65.

On a happier note, you will be one of relatively few people who can comment authoritatively on how the 2013 Panasonic plasmas compare to the 2012 versions. Specifically with regard to colour, motion handling, black level and shadow detail, and any other qualities you may think relevant, how does the VT65 compare with the GT50.

But it's a damn shame about the mild vertical bands.

Oh, you need to update your signature to show that you now have the VT65!

Sorry for the confusion - I posted it because I didnt expect to see any bad reports and sadly thats the first one - posted in a bit of a rush

I am considering a new Panny as I fancy a 60" - but sometimes you have to wait a minute and make sure they are as spot on we hope.

That guy posted it seems bloody unlucky as he has had a series of bad Panny plasmas by the looks of it.

My current TV is flawless in a sense of working as it should I would flip my lid if I converted and got problems

Are you in the market for a Panasonic now then? If yes which one? Cheers

I got to have a look at the ZT65 the other evening, it does look good but wasn't blown away, now don't get me wrong I am a big plasma fan and am hoping it was just a case of a poor setup and the Panasonic demo disc it was running wasn't great at all.

still can't wait to see it and get it setup better and have a play though :D been told they are shipping in June

June sounds about right, as the dealer I've ordered from initially said "third week of may" (ie pretty much now), but when I called a few days ago they still couldn't confirm a delivery date. Bit frustrating but not much to do other than be patient I guess.

Yep, much better black level on your Panasonic 50GT50 than on my dear old LG 60PZ950T in the kitchen, when I played The Grey two nights ago!

Had an email from the supplier today confirming they now have a ZT65 in stock.

Have just spoken to them, paid the balance, and arranged delivery for next Tuesday.

No going back now!!

I was seriously considering changing my order for a 65VT65, not least after Strapped's reviews of his 55" VT, as I'd paid the deposit on the ZT a month ago and then heard nothing. Then they took the decision out my hands this morning by telling me the ZT was in their warehouse waiting to be delivered.

:)

The 65" VT looks like an awesome TV though, let us know what you think when it turns up?

Hello mr malarky,

I was still going to try to steer you in the direction of the 65VT65 rather than the 60ZT65, assuming you had permission for that from mrs m! You might still be able to get your dealer to change, because the ZT is such a limited supply model that your dealer should have no difficulty passing it one to another customer. The extra five inches of the VT65 would have been usefel.

Irrespecitve of which new Panasonic plasma actually ends up in your house, since you're paying such a lot of money for a premium set you really should get it calibrated, after it has done about 200 hours, which seems to be the widely accepted run-in time. While you are doing that you might be able to get a reduction in the price for getting the Pioneer LX5090 calibrated at the same visit. Calibration is about £250, but part of that is for the calibrator's travel costs, so doing two at once should be cheaper than two separately. You weren't going to sell the Pioneer, were you? DON'T!! It will look very fine in another room, all the best What HiFi home cinema forumites have more than one telly, but seldom is a second telly as good as yours will be, especially after it's been calibrated!
