Does it work?
I will do a few now - all the blacks are all the same colour - there is no definition to any of it. That is not good blacks, having good blacks doesnt mean just ultra dark colour that blends into the room - it means there is definition in the blacks. You have none at all in that first video - its all the same throughout the whole video - even in the car park - its the same as him driving at night. I really dont think that is right.
Would be very good after a good cal though no doubt
I will do a few tonight - but that video and the set where its not calibrated the blacks have no definition - its all the same colour. Would be very good after a calibration
That one works but is only 480p and is a black mess mate sorry - no darkness / shadow defintion at all. Its not a very good video
Strange how some people like YouTube videos and some don't!
Can you produce a better one then? I would like to see you try.

I will try andf type again.
Most people havent seen a reference calibrated display - and they have probably never seen a correct setup display and are eaily pleased as what they have at home probably looks terrible,
That video looks wrong to me - the blacks are all the same throught the whole video. Its hard to video black sences I know - but there doesnt appear to be any definition in ay of it at all
Good blacks doesnt mean it merges in with the room - good blacks means you have definition in them -

strapped for cash said:I'm not sure the comparison is fair, since the 5090 has been calibrated within an inch of its life using a meter and Calman, while the GT50 has been calibrated by eye. (I assume Gel is comparing a non-calibrated Pioneer with a non-calibrated Panasonic.)
This discussion arguably underlines the importance/benefit of advanced calibration. There's a strong argument for Gel to get his GT50 calibrated.
Is this something you've considered, Gel? It might be the best value AV investment you can make. (You can probably get two TVs calibrated at a discount rate, if you decide to buy one of this year's Panasonics.)

We will see what your definition looks like in your YouTube video - impress me!
ellisdj said:I have just done one - waiting for to upload and all that - The best setting for the Pannys non calibrated is THX or THX Cinema as that is the most accurate.
Picture is not like sound - its either right or its not - no such thing as preference except for luminance based on ambient light in the viewing room and - i.e. how high you have the contrast or what gamma you set to 2,2 or 2.4 etc. The rest is either right or its not.
I will get my first vid up soon - The camera definately crushes blacks to an extent so i will forgive your video - but you can the gist of what the Calibrated 5090 screen puts out
ellisdj said:Ok, I dont have the band DVD you have or Drive - although its a very good film, excellent sound.
I am uploading DKR atm - my bloody cam run out of battery typical was tryinbg a tron, its also got settings on for some reason it shouldnt such as face detection so it goes a bit blurred here or there - thats the cam not the system I promise
My cousins G20 looks similar to my 5090 after he cal'd it but its not got the blacks so its not as good and it also has floating blacks which is the devil!
So the newer Pannys with the quality blacks should be just as good - how much better they can get is the bit I am still yet to see.
The function of Intelligent Frame Creation they always have on in the shop - while its very flash what it does its not how your supposed to be seeing it otherwise thats how it would be in the cinema etc - do you have that on?
ellisdj said:Thats probs why you think its better than the LX5090 as it doesnt do it - that adds in frames thats not suppsoed to be shown/ there.
ellisdj said:Mate I am fuming after all that its saying that due to copyright I cant use the video - what a pian in the ass!!!!
Poxy you tube is crap now days - hardly trying to copyright anything, what a joke
