Just doesn't sound right being called a 'Zee-Tee 60' though; its 'Zed-Tee'! (Apologies to our American cousins... :))

Yep, agreed.

That reads like a pretty fair review to me on all fronts, especially in terms of kuro comparisons, fan noise and colour reproduction (which, despite all the hype about its black level performance, has probably been the thing that's most impressed me relative to my old kuro, its extreme natural colour reproduction).

:O

Looks like he modded the fan......most likely not approved by the manufacturer.

Yep. If he didn't like the sound it made, I wonder why he didn't swap if for another one. He has bought it from TPS who are on AV all the time, should be interesting to see what they say, and how they deal with him.

Exactly. I'll be surprised if the manufacturer agrees to repair / replace it under warranty.

He has told them exactly what he has done to it too!

The guy refers to having had the 'fan fix' carried out. He might be referring to the 'official' panasonic fix for what panasonic seem to have accepted is higher than normal fan noise on many if this years VT and ZT models. The problem appears to be turbulence as the air flows over the holes drilled in the back panel (apperently the fans are silent once the rear cover is remived) and the 'fix' is basically additional foam strips placed around the fan beneath the casing (am guessing this reduces the airflow, and therefore the associated turbulence?).

People are having the fix done by authorised Panasonic service centres under their warrantee, so if that's what this guy has had done then he should be covered.

Looks like he has done this too:

Lights around the TV.

This is his second ZT65 too, his first arrived with a cracked screen (I think).

he's not having much luck!

can't think the lights would have caused an issue, unless they're pumping out an awful of of heat?

I still wouldn't do it. He bought it from TPS and has now sent his 5 year warranty off to Panasonic. I am not quite sure who he will be dealing with now?

I have the zt65 the fan noise is a wee bit intrusive when watching quiet scenes, but the thought of someone mucking about with this thing and taking the back off etc dosent sit well with me unless the fan noise was really bad
