Aktimate Maxis - anyone own these?

If so, can you help me make them make a noise please? I'm struggling.

Have tried connecting an ipod and nothing, have tried AUX1 and AUX2. Haven't managed ethernet as get a network error everytime.

I've also tried disconnecting the other speaker as I thought maybe the connection wasn't working. Am I right to think the amplified speaker should still work on its own? Because yeah I can't get any sound at all.

Are they plugged in and turned on?? Is the volume up?? Have you selected the right input??
