Just to state the obvious, it seemed like a missed opportunity to make this thread die quietly, which I'm confident that it will do eventually.

Hopefuly it will be concluded by this time tomorrow!

Just had confirmation that Rega have shipped an Elicit R, Mid/Bass Driver & Couple I/C

Yes I have been patient, Jus how unlucky am I? The 3rd amp was silent as a mouse, just the 1 channel on the phono stage missing.

Fingers crossed!

No.4 Elicit R home and playing!

No humming, buzzing boith channels present of the Phono stage.

RS3 Speaker repaired - all good.

Rega Couple 2 connected up to my DAC - see if can notice any difference against the Couple 1

YEAY!!!!! 🙂🙂)🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂

WOW result!!.. I like the way Rega has dealt with the problem, but still think something needs to be done about QC.

I think they just saved them selves loosing custom.

Rega have not done thereselves any harm IMO, excellent after sales service from them & Cymbiosis.

They should review QC though, maybe as the Elciit R is new they may of overlooked something!

Out of all the 4 amps though the first one was very very hot from Day 1, i just thought it was normal - maybe someting failed on the PCB that shortened the life of it!

I will find out from Rega via Cymbiosis about the first amp and detrioation in SQ

They owe you a jacket.

Hi Steve,

I've been following this thread for a while and i'm so sorry you had to go through all that trouble before you could enjoy your music peacefully! Having gone through a few troubles myself before i know how frustrating these things can get!

But kudos to Rega and Paul for handling this matter so efficiently and actually solving it to your satisfaction! Problems happen and several can happen, but the way they are dealt with and solved is crucial... And Rega have done a fine job! I think you are in the hands of a fine company! 🙂

Wish you several years of enjoyment with your equipment! 🙂

All is good here tonight!

My new bass/mid driver paper cone is slightly darker in colour than the other..........I think I can live with as it sounds bloody fanatstic! 🙂🙂🙂

So happy for you Steve! And I'm pretty sure Mr. Darwin has had a few meetings inside Rega HQ about this ;-)

In general my confidence in the brand Rega has not been damaged. They've shown they care, and I expect them to take approriate internal action.

Enjoy your Elicit. Me jealous ;-)

Hip hip hooray!

The Elicit R seems to be something special, what is the name of the amplifier designer?

Terry Bateman I think.

Cool, this article describes pre google research, done by Mr Bateman, for the perfect amplifier:

His interest in old audio electronics circuits might explain the comments he 'signs' on circuit boards...

(Looks like Rega QC have struck again in failing to spell 'Trough-Line' correctly!)

It could be intentionally, we haven't asked him, yet. 'Trough-Line' was on the original case work.

It will not affect the sound, though.

Terry Bateman came across some old electronics magazines and the fruit of that research whas the foundation for the Rega Brio R circuit board design!

Some say that the Elicit R is the Brio R in steroids, but it isn't so... I've demo some month ago the Elicit R in my home, and at the time i had the Brio R, and the Brio R is a mutch smoother sounding amp. I had to look else where to upgrade the Brio R, but that is another story...
