Bad news for people like me, who like a good solid, mechanical keyboard that is high quality but, with zero frippery.

From another forum:

“Diatec, the Japanese company behind the Filco brand, has gone bust.

Might switch back to my Majestouch II for a bit, in memoriam.”

That's a terrible shame another quality brand gone.
Gamer's it seems are switching to cheap nameless keyboards from China.

There are some Old school KB manufacturers still operating today, like Keytronics, and another with Duck in the title.
Contemporaries Corsair, Razer, Logitech and Steelseries make decent mechanical keyboards but plenty of frippery!

Wouldn't worry about it too much unless you don't have a mechanical keyboard, as good quality ones last for decades (Mines over 30yrs old and still going strong).

As to frippery, its mostly RGB (Which you do not need to turn on) or extra controls for media (Which you don't have to use), which increases cost minimally.
