Swans. Never heard of them, even though they have been on the go since 1981, they have a lot of albums and get millions of plays on Spotify. This is why I love streaming sites, as it has never been easier to find hidden gems and bands (and artists) who are brilliant and you like pretty much everything they have done. Another example of that is Devin Townsend. I have now seen him live more than any other artists and still regularly listen to his many albums. Prior to stumbling across him on Spotify, I had never heard of him. I even remember posting a link to one of his songs on YouTube and another poster here replying, how have I never heard of him?

Angine de Poitrine for me.

Been obsessed since discovering them from their KEXP performance a month or two ago, so much so I'm seeing them at the 02 Academy Leeds in October.

Described as a math/experimental/prog rock band, they make heavy use of microtonal guitar, and live looping, which makes them sound much bigger than they are.

All the more impressive that they perform in full costume too

They describe themselves as" mantra-rock Dada Pythago-Cubist orchestra" composed of "space-time voyagers"

Which plays into their use of the costumes , that were originally adopted to disguise the fact they were playing back to back gigs in different bands.

The guitar player looks like Buckethead formerly of Guns N Roses:

Regardless of the fact I don't like Swans that much (despite listening to post punk, goth, alt rock) - I was actually saying the same to someone on a different forum two days ago (regarding Danzig). I am constantly finding bands which I somehow overlooked, and it's great discovering them as if they had just come out. Keeps life exciting!

I notice some here not knowing all bands ,i think it´s quite normal , i would aske, what happened to several great bands forgoten in time, there are a lot that had no great deal with a label,

also when known big labels didn´t want to invest in those bands, today it´s a very strange world ,

some had the luck of being heard ,others have released albuns but no publicity or anykind of investment to made them known by the main music listeners that have no time to be seeking for bands they could have liked ,

only old lps being re-released ,some with a inferior quality sound than in early 80´s or early 70´s, noticed it in a lot of re-releases,

Spotify in reality is a tool some labels use to not spend any money on their artists, hoping they will be heard by chance,

Streaming is old FM radio

Still loving Swans. It is odd that with the various "if you listen to this, you should like that" type recommendations that the likes of Spotify provide, Swans have never crossed my radar before.

I think i did reply to this comment before, to say that i loved the love will tear us apart maxi-single but the version singed by the girl and till late 80´s i heard them, but then i discovered others and forgot about Swans, like the other day i re-discovered in my lp colection,

Death in June, and Miranda Sex Garden and for a lot of time i didn´t play any of my Cranes lp´s and it felt so good to hear them but the last i bought was Population four but i liked more some of the first songs on A side, beautiful friend and shinning road of 94 were maybe my favorite songs ,

wings of joy lp was what caught my attention, not sure but i think they have a older e.p. from a different label

From newer bands i do like a lot Viagra Boys, Lambrini Girls and also Amyl and the Sniffers,

but always hearing to different artists and records from what is called Jazz music,

allthough none sound the same, well a few in the 60´s and late 50´s because they played on eachother records,

like early 50´s Miles Davis, one listens and thinks "this is familiar" when looking at the cover drums:Art Blackey ,
i have at least 7 lp´s from Art Blackey and the Messengers, and"A night in Tunisia" is special for me,

I don´t know others opinions but what do some think about Agartha the 70´s live album from Miles Davis, Jazz?maybe more related with hard rock.

Any opinions?
