My Dell laptop is is producing a buzzing sound (both battery operated and with charger), so I need another (inexpensive) source with a small footprint to connect to my AK HC3 dac and iBasso SR3 headphones. Bloom Audio suggested the HiBy R1 mp3 player.I don't want to store music. I just want to be able to get HiRes capability with the dac when going online to Qobuz and other music apps like JazzRadio. Is the R1 a good choice, and since I don't want to store music, do I need a Micro SD card? Thanks.

BTW, I know Jazz Radio doesn't support HiRes. I just want to be able to listen to music on the app. Thanks.

Because the DAC doesn't work when I connect an apple USB C cable from it (the DAC)to my iphone 12 mini
I'm using my Lenovo pad but it takes up a lot of space on my desk. I'm beginning to think this is the best solution, though. And I don't have to spend any money. Thanks.

Hiby R1 is a capable DAP, the Android software will allow you download all the Apps you need but using it as a streamer may be a little cumbersome.

I assume you had in mind to use it as a desktop application than carrying it around with you?
Much better to get a streamer with a headphone option, such as the FiiO K11 or K13 depending on your budget.
Both these streamer DACs will sound better than your A&K dongle.
You can sell the dongle to recoup the costs.

The Fiio 11 is more within my budget. Is it not as good as the AK HC4 dongle? Will I notice the difference?
My apologies I seem to have lost my mind!!
The FiiO K11 is just a DAC with a headphone socket! Doesn't come with a Streamer. Oh really losing my marbles 😂

If you're thinking of getting Streamer DAC with headphone socket. There are many options but this will exceed your planned budget.
Yes, the DAP might be doable if it allows you the option to work with an external DAC, like A&K HC4 dongle but not all DAPs provide that functionality.

Something like WiiM Ultra, is a streamer DAC and comes with a headphone socket but at £349, it's possibly more than what you had budgeted for but look on eBay you may find ex-Demo or SH which are more palatable in costs.

Have you considered the Wiim Mini Streamer. Had native Qobuz and VTuner, which has JazzRadio listed.

Yes, I thought the Mini would certainly give the small footprint he's after - but he needs USB out to stick with his current DAC.
(Might be a reason to reconsider the DAC options, as it seems the setup doesn't need it to be a portable type).
