You're happy with your HiFi system but you feel it could be tweaked further to give its best.

I'm delighted with my bedroom HiFi and wouldn't consider an upgrade but I feel the high frequencies coud reach better highs by the inclusion of a ribbon tweeter unit (pair) below.
You add a subwoofer to compliment the speakers low end and the same is true for the opposite end of the frequency spectrum.

The feedback I got from other peoples comment that it enlarges the high frequency envelope, more detail and better enhancement of the top end. The Dali Oberon 3's is about to get a side kick, like Batman and Robin, the dynamic duo.

Well, will see how much this makes a difference when these arrive in two weeks time :)

Yes I like to tinker with things and in certain scenarios better to play around your existing speakers, to get the best out of them than to replace it wholesale. Not all upgrades go to plan, it may sound better in certain areas but is compromised in others.
So if you're happy with your speakers, do nothing but if you got the itch, don't upgrade, TWEAK IT!

Any of you wish to share your experience, where tweaking had a positive outcome or the complete opposite.

I'm perfectly happy with my kit 'as is'. It took me a while to get the Rubis sing, since I found it's sweet spot, that's it. If it isn't broke...

The best upgrade is don't use the hi-fi for a couple of days. If played too often I find it's hi-fi overdose.

hi-fi overdose
I like that :)
You're right it always seem to sound sweeter when you don't play it too often.

Before you consider adding to your system, how well positioned are your speakers, and can you improve on that? Speaker positioning is often a problem in bedrooms.

It's very tight Andy, if I had room I would have positioned it better. Speakers would be further apart and away from the wall.
Even so, the sound is mighty fine, no qualms. The Oberon 3's and the Atoll IN100 are perfect match.
I'm just exploring the idea of adding these high frequency tweeters, hopefully this little experiment will yield some enhancements in the higher frequencies.
Listening to other peoples favourable comments, curiosity got the better of me, let's see how it goes. :)

Personally I would get those speakers on some proper isolation stands for desktops.

Isolation stands are possibly way forward. I will keep my eyes peeled for something more suitably, thanks :)

Not obvious from the photo, the speakers are resting on these isolation pads. These I think work well and cost effective solution to unwanted vibrations.

not obvious as you say but those little stools do look a bit precarious.
Perhaps a wider bit of granite / wood to place on top of that chest or whatever you have it all sat on?

Yeah Gray also said the same :)

The real oak set of drawers, really heavy and solid. There's very little vibration when I'm walking pass but I am thinking of replacing the stools with something more suitable. I have looked at ISO isolation platforms but the size is a bit off. I hopefully I'll find something similar with the correct dimensions.

Need to get those speakers further apart if you can .....

I’m perfectly happy with my system. Could it be better? Perhaps, but it sounds really good, I’ve learnt in life that it’s best not to try the expensive wine in case one develops a taste for it. And there is something called hedonic adaptation. Look it up!

The biggest improvement to my system was discovering the EQ on my Wiim. I added an upward slope in the mids and trebles to suit older ears, and a bass boost to compensate for the drop off from the LS50s. I’m astonished by the bass rumble. Listening to a well recorded symphony and I could be in the concert hall. The biggest problem is rubbish recordings, with clipping, or bad mixing. Such recordings often sound better on mediocre systems.
