'another' go at getting a bigger telly ...... ?

How did you fail thus far !?!??!

I've got a SIM2 Domino 55M going if you like!!

I got a 32" Panasonic but it was deemed "too big" and went back to John Lewis. But having since borrowed a 40" that was quite well received, I may have another go with the 32-incher.

A new laptop for me. One with more processing power to cope with downloading stuff from Spotify, a 320 minimum hard drive which will do for my CDs and not Dell to get rid of the itunes crackling problem.

A closed backed headphone that does not leak sound, so as not to disturb others.

Do my first DIY job and fix my X-CANS by rolling in some new valves.

It took me over 2 years to build my system, so my only resolution is to finally have the time to start listening to it as much as i want to.

Plus catagorizing all my music into proper folders on my apple tv, so i dont have to spend hours searching for a track, would be great!

reggaedave:To own a pair of splendors !!!!

Surely you mean a pair of Spendors, old boy?

Nothing other than get some more listaning time.

about the only thing is that the home cinema set up isn't getting much use, so maybe re-integrating it into the livingroom. Although i'd get buttons for my projector so there's not much point selling it.

1.Finish ripping my cds to my ipod
2.Rediscover my older cds (probably dependant on 1.)
3.Set up my turntable again and have fun with all my old vinyl.

I need to sort out my home cinema too. I have an Acoustic Energy Aego P5 which doesnt really cut it any more. I always find I am struggling to hear dialogue.

So on top of my speaker search, I also need to work out what to do about home cinema. Given it doesnt get used that much. I dont want to spend a fortune.

At least two things to keep my occupied in 2010.

1. Rerip the rest of my itunes library as lossless (500 done- 700 to go!)

2. Fill the gaps in my CD collection - at an average cost of less than £4 per CD

3. Find a hi fi or TV stand deep enough to accomodate the Pioneer A-8800

4. To run 10k in under 37:30 (Wearing an ipod to make it qualify as a hi fi resolution)

Most definately going to buy a new cd deck next year at least a 6 discer, and I will also be buying anew tape deck I used to have a Pioneer CTW-806Dr and had to get rid so may get another to sort the rest of my tape collection out.

Going to buy a new cabinet, found a shiny new black one at a shop in town, the system would look great in it.

I've hooked up my very un-used Wharefdale S500's (The rare ones that are hard to find) up to my amp and they sound alot better than I remember.

jtein:

Hi fellas, let's share your hifi goals for 2010.

Mine is to achieve a huge jump in sonic performance from my current system. Any suggestion of amp, cdp and speakers for me to achieve this? I do have a few in mind but I won't name them yet so as not to influence your suggestions.

Yup - once the festive season is behind us - and finances allowing - I'll be heading storewards, with a little assistance from fleebay, upgrading my whole system.

Amplifier is pretty much nailed on, likewise the speakers. The only real dilemma will be the CDP.

"Deemed" as in she who must be obeyed says "thats way to big send it back" and you humbly obey.

- Stop buying albums on iTunes Store

- Finish buying albums from my to-buy-list. iTunes Store purchases I got to have in CD.

Don't think I'll be adding anything to my hi fi. It's all very new and I hope it doesn't trigger a GAS that almost all you lot seem to have

JohnDuncan:Yup. diminishing returns from there on in, buddy.

Hmm.....thought you'd get what you pay for (as a general rule) http://www.postsmile.com/

I've heard the 30 grand reference system downstairs. Is it 27 grand better than your setup? Not to me. Your Money May Vary, obviously.

After 13 years, time for new Speakers! That's a wish. not a resolution -- so the resolution must be to rip all my CDs to my NAS, hopefully in a only a month! And then the Vinyl!

1) Get the Logitech Harmony working with my preamp (yeah, right)
2) Find an alternative remote control for my pre amp
3) Buy a Quad 405 from ebay & take it and my current Quad to David Pritchard at Netaudio for a complete mono-bloc pair conversion. That should move me from c.20amps of juice to c.40amps. I NEED CONTROL...twitches

...oh, and keep buying lots of music...but maybe more considered purchases than the many I make from charity shops...

I will probably sell my Naim seperates and get the Naimuniti some time before spring. I don't want to change the sound of what I have now but want all the electronics in one box. (Currently 4 boxes including the DAC.)

When available (and when I can afford it) I want a Panasonic BD/HDD/Freeview+ recorder and Freeview+ equipped TV in time for Freeview+/Freeview HD roll-out in our area.

am happy with my amp ... has gone in for a service/recap and will get it back in the Jan

will look at an Eikos cdp ... if I can get a good one for under £900, will buy it

am happy with my speakers, but if I can get a decent pair of IMF TLS80 speakers at a reasonable price, I will upgrade

I need to hook up spotify to my main system

am very happy with my speaker cables ....

am happy with my interconnect, but seems some people say there is much better, so may have a close look at a good Chord IC or similar

--------------

my16yr old son's system is taking shape now, and have recently purchased a Tom Evans (tweaked/upgraded) pioneer A300R precision ... the one I got is the stage 1 upgrade ... am very impressed as am using it on my main system while my amp is being serviced ... I was in touch with Tom and he says he will do the 'full monty' upgrade for £550

I will audition it as it stands with the stage 1 upgrade against the Naim Nait 5i and if it is similar or better, will have the upgrade done for my son (many say the Precision is better but want to hear for myself)

..... so lots of spending for the new year, but 1 step at a time

igglebert:Def not an XS amp then Chebby?

No. I am basically happy with the sound now. The naimuniti won't change that. (I have heard it enough times to be sure of that.)

I don't want to embark on any 'upgrade paths' especially if it facilitates the possibility of even more boxes. I would have bought the naimuniti a lot early earlier but back when I bought this lot, I did not even know the naimuniti was going to be launched.

2010 will involve, a room reshuffle, plenty of Vinyl buying, then undecided either

1. NAP200 power amp

2. Beresford Caimen + Decent Headphones

3. NAS drive + sonos

dilema!!
