I read on the Naim forum that the fuses they recommend, you know the 13 amp ones that their equipment can't possibly need, are directional, ie they work better one way round than the other. I wonder if you have your fuses in the wrong way? Possibly you live in the Southern hemisphere as I read the fuses work the other way round there.

Chris

PS If your problems persist I can recommend a good exorcist.

PPS Have you thought about a divorce in order to get a room where you can have the equipment you truly desire? Financially it's really bad news, trust me I've been there, but nobody can gainsay me if I want to house my speakers in baths of liquid nitrogen or whatever the latest idea from the hifi loonies is.

As you say you read that on the Naim forum, not stated by Naim.

You will get loonies everyware, there are loads on this site................

I believe it was posted by the forum Administrator but I don't know if he works for Naim.

Chris

Ah so a certain make of fuse was not recommended by Naim, I do wish people would get their facts straight before they post lies.................

" ... the equipment does seem to sound better with the fuse fitted in a particular direction (see post in the FAQ). Strangely it seems the opposite orientation sounds best in the Southern hemisphere. " - Naim Forum

So what kind of "lie" is that?

Chris

Can you tell me where Naim as a manufacturere recommends a particular make and direction of fuse as you were referring ?

It on here: http://forums.naimaudio.com/topic/equipment-fuses

NAIM AS A MANUFACTURER.............jeez.

NAIM AS A MANUFACTURER.............jeez.

Its their website, its under Frequently Asked Questions. Also they do state that the fuse should the exactly same one as the original, you should get from your Naim dealer or from them.

Exactly, so why does it annoy you?

I could imagine someone being peeved at how ugly / badly proportioned a reputedly superb set of speakers are - in reality - when they might otherwise be perfect for your system and perfect for your budget.

Take the new ATC SCM7s and 11s. They look a whole order of magnitude better than their predecessors (IMO) ...

But then they put ugly chicken wire grilles on them!

Eek!

+1 chebby

i've post on the ACT thread that i prefere the new look of the SCM range, and if they exist 1 year ago probably they would be on my stands!

But with grilles on OMG... :wall:

to those of us with young childern with small, curious fingers, those grill are beautiful

It seems to be skipping on random discs. Contacted the dealer I purchased it from and they'll give it a 'once over', either today or Saturday. Should it need serious work they'll send it back to Naim.

I asked, also, if they had the Elicit-R on dem. They said they have one ticking over in a back room, so I might cast a curious ear over it.

Would be nice to go a few months without problems. First the Leema headphone socket and now CDP.

C'est la vie.

Quick update - didn't heard from the dealers today. They say no news is good news so I'm hoping....
