I did something daft, my new wooden arrow keycaps I got for my Roccat Vulcan keyboard kept slipping off the switch, so I put a little drop of super glue inside holding slot. Not a good idea!
Subsequently the keys became locked into the switch. I thought oh fudge, I'll just replace the switch with compatible Roccat one. I search high and low, I couldn't find any, then I went on the Reddit forum and soon discovered from one poster, the switch was soldiered onto the keyboard, oh damn, I've ruined a perfectly good keyboard. I really must stop tinkering with things and let sleepy dogs lie.
Anyway, I decided on a keyboard replacement. I thought better to avoid another Roccat keyboard, because of my above experience.
The SteelSeries Apex Pro Hypermagnetic Gaming Keyboard with adjustable actuation was probably the best on the market but buying brand new, particularly the gen 3 models were selling upwards of £200, ouch.
I still wanted it, I looked up on eBay for used model, saw refurbished selling for £99, happy days...or not so happy, on receipt the keyboard was defective, if it was a living entity we would call it psychography, this machine kept typing below characters without me touching the keyboard.

Back to the seller it went.
As soon as I received my refund, I'd gone back on the hunting trail. I was still locked in on the The SteelSeries Apex Pro.
It wasn't long into the search, I came across another from a different vendor, Gen 3 2023 version, brand new (open box) selling for the same price as the refurbished one.
I whipped it up without hesitation, it arrived it was perfect. I began work on replacing the keycaps with customised ones, including the wooden ones which fitted perfectly on the SteelSeries keyboard, most delighted with the aesthetics. The digital screen is pretty cool. There was no need to adjust the actuation, the default key pressure was perfect for me.

To conclude, I managed revitalize three of the arrow key switches on the old Vulcan keyboard, using my wife's hairdryer. The upward pointing switch was beyond saving, despite my best efforts. The keyboard was still good, I gave it to my nephew.
