A philosophical question about speaker cable

If I have just purchased Chord speaker cable for 3p a metre, does that make it cheaper than cheap generic copper wire, and if so acceptable?

Yes I'm just being mischevious. But I really did get it for 3p a metre ( a saving of 99% *dance4*) . Probably still ripped off...

Just trying to inject some humour after yet another massive cable thread

Before we get another of 28 pages of arguing I thought I'd save you all the hassle and post a random picture straight away. 🙂

If I turn the cable on my monitor around will it improve the picture quality?
Have you tried it? 🙂

I don't actually try things. I just measure them. 😉

When you buy a cable, normally the packaging will tell you how long it is. So what's the point of measuring it yourself? I don't get it.

I was going to make the joke just make sure you use it the right way round - but feared the backlash of those missing a sense of humour.

Someone went there first - jolly good. But I also thought no need as you would have to be idiotic to not do that away 😉

It's called 'going to great lengths to convince yourself' ;-)

I am listening to some music right now and, lo and behold, no cables are involved apart from two power cords.

Other wise I would say that a pound of speaker cable should be fine, unless you have some very high-end home cinema setup, in wich case you should look at a hundredweight.

Seriously, you don't try it?

There was I thinking such things are common practice.

No never. I don't even own any music. Can't stand the stuff.

My hobby is measuring wires and arguing with strangers on the internet.

Funnily enough I suspected that was the the type of person you were.

Oh dear.. If I resist..*yahoo*

Your chord speaker should be alright. A decent cable for speaker use is no rocket science to do and there is no "problem" in a 3 pounds cable. It must just be made out of copper and the copper must be gained in something. End of story.

These foo cable sellers can't be trusted. They're ripping people off at every opportunity.

Just the other day I bought a 3 meter HDMI cable for £1.50 but when I measured it I found that it was only 2.99 meters long (not inlcluding the 3cm long HDMI plugs). I feel that I've been shafted! This sort of outright con needs to be brought to peoples attention.
