Hi

I'm thinking it's about time to start upgrading my hifi. Luckily her indoors has decided she wants to totally redecorate and refurnish the lounge and has decided that my piano black Quads won't fit in with her idea's and they need to changing to piano white ones *biggrin*

I've got a budget of around 1k for the speakers and I've been looking at all the usual contenders like Kef R300, LS50's, B&W CM5 s2, MA Gold 50 etc. to go with the Audiolab's to start with but hopefully early next year I will be upgrading the amplifier as well and had the Yamaha AS1100/2100 in mind. Mainly because they are just hifi porn *good*.

However noseying through eBay as you do and came across a dealer selling the Yamaha NS-B951's for less than half price. I can't find any reviews or owners opinions anywhere on the web for these.

I'm assuming they would go nicely with the Yamaha amps but what about with the Audiolabs? Has anybody any experience with these speakers? If I do go with them I'm going to have to buy blind as I can't get to audition so all info very much appreciated.

Cheers

Lee

With the amount of info on the web about these that was the level of response I was expecting to be honest.

What is it about Japanese higher end stuff? Marantz, Yamaha, Denon etc seem very popular in the lower price brackets and in the AV market but nobody seems to buy the more expensive hifi products. Do they not have 'the sound' that we Brits like. Is it brand snobbery or is it just that we have a fair amount of good British manufacturers producing some good products at these price levels

None of the HiFi shops round my way stock these. You can buy them from online retailers like Gear4Music and they offer a 30 day guaranteed return option if you don't like them. You can try them out in your own room with your own gear and ultimately your opinion will be worth more than everyone else's put together.
