I have read excellent reviews from many different sources regarding the phillips set & I am very tempted to replace my Sony 40W5500. I am generally pleased with the sony but it does suffer from backlight clouding in the corners which is noticeable when watching darker scenes. Would the phillips be regarded as a worthwhile replacement in terms of motion handling etc..I am not looking for 3D capabilities or thin sets, just good quality film reproduction. I am using the Sony 370 for my blu-ray source which I am extremely pleased with so if any body has a similiar set up would be interested in some feedback. I have seen some good price reductions on the Phillips set but have also considered the Sony HX803 but it is quite expensive & I don't really want to pay extra for 3D capability.

well the philips is around £1500 if im not mistaken , that price point , at 40-42in and non 3d gives you some nice choices , id also be looking at the lg 42le8900 ,rear led and panasonic 42v20 plasma , i dont think the sony hx803 will be as good overall as either of them , the 40hx903 may be , but i dont think £1500 would get one ..

for great motion , and great picture quality id personally choose the panasonic , but a demo of a few of them is probably your best bet ..

The 9704 is a good step up from the 5500 and is still one of the very best screens available today. So far Sony have not come up trumps with the TV's, the LED screens in particular are not class leading in our opinion so I would be sure to view a HX803 in a good set up prior to purchasing.
