My newish Primare power amp is currently placed on top of my ancient Target rack for the simple reason I can easily access its rear mains switch. I will be replacing this rack perhaps with a HiFi Racks podium or similar later this year where the amp will be nearer the floor.
With this in mind, I bought a set of these radio controlled mains sockets:

one of which my amp is powered from. I haven't noticed any impact on SQ but if I experimented to find there was, I could then try remote controlling a 12V PSU into the amp's trigger input instead. The main problem with these DB-Tech sockets is their bulk - an issue when plugged into a mains strip. Can anyone suggest sockets that are slimmer? Infrared control maybe more benign interference wise but needs line-of-sight to work, so radio control would be needed. Any experiences with home automation would be gratefully received. The DB-Tech's transmitter is also quite bulky so would also be interested in a RF & Infrared universal remote at some point.
