Picked up a FiiO K11 for not much money. Just plugged it in & sounds fine. Will have to experiment with my different headphones.

Massive oops - I had no idea it has no remote. I have to mute speakers to use with headphones so only volume control I have is on the DAC itself. That's pretty annoying when I'll be say a few metres away.

Yeah no remote, small gripe.
Do you have the R2R or standard version 🙂

I just got the standard one as it was £50.

I’ve also got a cheapo valve headphone out on the way from Douk. I can run a line level RCA out of the preamp as well as the balanced outputs that go to the speakers, so wanted to see what that sounds like. Both outputs are always on, which with active speakers is no problem as I can just turn them off when I want to use headphones.

Now that I’ve written all that, I’m a little confused why I bought the K11 at all 😂

£50 isn't crazy. Enjoy your late night listening on your headphones 🙂👍

Cheers Jason. The best part is that there’s no one else in my flat to require headphone listening, nor have I had any neighbour complain about my stereo (or guitar playing) in the last couple of years living here. Just felt I was missing out on the headphones fun 😂

Headphones give another dimension to listening. Too many compare it to listening to speakers. You eliminate the room ... as I'm sure you know and it is in essence an active system unless one uses some weird IE's with Xover. As an aside, I had both the K11 and K11R2R at the same at home to find out what all the fuss was about. I kept the non R2R. It was cleaner and more resolving with my Hifiman and Sennheiser. £50 is a great deal (new?) but if you need R/C it's no good.
