Do you ear the crickets in "Roadhouses & Automobiles" ?

If you don't is time to upgrade...! ;)

I didn't pay attention to that particular detail yet.

Even if I could hear the crickets, they won't keep me from buying a proper hifi system! :shame:

Oh for goodness sake!

After reading the above I played the YouTube version of the title track (set to 480 quality) on my laptop to my Bluetooth speaker (Logitech Mini Boombox) and heard the crickets - very clearly - just before Chris Jones started singing.

Heck, I can even hear them faintly if I listen closely to the laptop's internal speaker!

Now you ruined it, Chebby! I wanted to listen for it on my car "hifi" tomorrow! Can't beat a laptop speaker...

But do you like the album? I do!

Didn't sound like my kind of music from the few seconds it took to pass to the 'cricket test'.

I bought the cd as I was intrigued by this thread.

Its very well produced, and I can hear the crickets, but god it's dull.

Not something I can see me returning to any time soon!

oh well

Yeah, but it had an indoor/studio ambience and they'd have to be some very loud crickets to make themselves heard from inside a studio. (Unless they had a box of 'em in the studio all mike'd up for the occasion.*)

*Given how important they seem to be, did they get little royalties?

I don't like country music or Folk music, but I do like well produced music!

Chris Jones was a first for me, country music tell histories, and this album is about Truck Drivers histories , not so much glamour in the profession, but LOT of glamour in the production of the album!
