Friday Funnies - Why is my left ear better than my right?

Thats right, its Friday, its late - afternoon. im thinking about heading to the golf course this weekend and I thought - Why not share a random thought ive been having occasionally with the forum members.

Funnily enough, I believe my left ear is superior to my right ear. It almost like my left ear is HD and my right ear is SD. I can hear much clearer with my left ear, more analytically, more detail than with my right ear. The problem isnt due to ear damage, ive never done much wrong with my ears. Im only 24 - so hopefully its not my age yet

. Ive been assured that it cant be due to the fact the left side of the brain is the analytical side (random bar talk).

I noticed it initially with my bluetooth headset for my phone in the car. My left ear is much clearer to hear the voices in noisy conditions than my right.

The difference isnt as large as im making it out, but one that is noticeable if I spend time "testing" it

Wonder if anyone else has experience anything similar

I always understood that the sides of the brain control opposite sides in the rest of the body....so the left side of the brain would logically control or be responsible for processing from your right ear....not your left........

You have a short circuit there somewhere..........

I KNEW IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

- I have just been sending some e-mails with some music on, and started testing my ears again. I think its just the vocals that arent as clear maybe......I dunno. I need a dB attenuator for my left ear? Time for a well earned pint I think....

Check for shorts...if OK then get a long pair of forceps and stuff them up your nose, a la Arnie and swap your interconnects around........

Ive worked it out - my left ear is Cyrus equipment and my right is Musical Fidelity. Obviously we are overlooking the possiblity of me being completely crazy due to it being Friday - thats the chance we take with the Friday Funnies o/

Omg, im 24 too and I have exactly the same problem as you...ive noticed that my left ear is also far superior to my right. When I listen to music through my system, i hear sligtly better from my left ear, so much so I have to position myself sligtly left of centre. Has bee the same every system I ever owned. Also this is the same with my headphones. When listening to music I hear more detail from my left ear. Reasurring to know I am not alone

Sorry to be basic, but it's not just earwax is it? Is one of your sets of in-ear 'phones missing an earbud?

Before anyone else states the obvious, I have researched, consulted and pondered every reason as to why this occurs. I have been to my GP, I have used earex cleaning solution, I have altered my system positions, components....etc etc. straight to the point....no. the headphones are bose around ear.

Its biological, when your wife / girlfriend sits on your right for an extended time that ear becomes less sensative. Try swapping sides

Haha apparently the mind is more suggestible when conversation or the other halfs desires is spoken through the right ear...all the better to know...they can be so suggestive

It could just be dodgy internal wiring, are you using the factory supplied interconnects ? As you say you have already cleaned the connectors, so maybe upgrading to some specialist cables would do the trick

Although you may invalidate your warranty as you would have to remove the top cover to gain access.

Sounds to me like your right ear is wired in reverse-phase. Anything that goes in the left ear, is automatically absorbed by the right, and shoved straight back out... A bit like TruBlue's theory, except caused by your other half sitting on your left hand side...

Hah! Not quite the examples I was going to give, but yes, people are not physically symetrical, so it doesn't seem so surprising that one ear might be slightly more sensitive than the other.
