Did you enjoy Placebo? I was at their Nottingham show the other night - thought they were pretty good. A small number of weaker moments, but really great to hear all the early hits... and I never tire of The Bitter End.

I did, they were great. As always, bass was a little overdone, but the sound was pretty good.

I prefer their earlier stuff too. In fact, the first half of the gig I was just wishing they got on with it so I could hear stuff off their debut album. I like their other stuff, but like most bands, it moved more mainstream - I prefer their early, energetic punk based rock. Unfortunately, two of them were played at a less punky pace, although it did suit one of the tracks better (36 Degrees).

Thanks. Website will be up soon - I put together three websites, but none really came across how I wanted them to, and some will be better further down the road. I agree... Quite often I find that bass is overblown at gigs and the vocals too quiet. Luckily, not the case this time. I last saw them in Leeds three years ago, and enjoyed that show too. I do agree that the more energetic part of the show is the better, and like you thought the 36 Degrees version worked well. One of the highlights for me was Without You I'm Nothing, with the lovely nod to Mr. Bowie.

Anyway, enjoy Korn... My next planned show is Iron Maiden in June....

Unfortunately not the active ones, they're mine from home - I was just placing a few things to get a feel for the room and the layout. Active ones will be in situ at some point though...

Yes, that was nice, and the opening tribute to Leonard Cohen was very well received too.

The bass was fine for the beat, but with that amount of bass, individual notes on bass guitars are just lost, and screws timing completely. I'm not expecting ultimate fidelity, but if they backed off on the bass a little, there'd be so much more detail we'd be able to hear.

Anyway, enjoy Korn... My next planned show is Iron Maiden in June....

I don't personally know the guy, so I may be wrong, but surely he was only posting here for and on behalf of HiFix to generate business, which equates to sales commission? Ergo it was his job. Why therefore would anybody expect him to post on here again?

I had full intention of continuing to post as normal, but I felt that under the username I had, it wouldn't be right. It has taken a little while to sort that out, but now it has, I can post as normal. I'm fully aware of what I have said on a number of occasions about posting here whether I was working for a retailer or not, and I was even aware of that given the circumstances.

No offence taken. I was just making things clear with regards to an earlier comment from gel, and this statement I've made (on several ocassions) was at the forefront of my mind for the past month since I left FH. I wanted to post in the meantime, but the username wasn't appropriate. Unfortunately this has now been rectified just at the time I get back in the retail saddle!

So yes, as before, I am here as myself with my own opinions and advice, but posting in a retail capacity as well. Although I'm going to spare you all having the company as a username. I'll stick it in my sig though when the website is up and running (rules seem to have been relaxed their, judging by another retailer's postings).

Thanks nopiano. It definitely won't be easy, and there's a lot to learn. I'm aiming for this to be a little different to conventional retail, and it'll be interesting to see if the location is a help or a hinderance. Cool area though with all the bars and restaurants, along with some specialist retailers. Easy to get to via any type of transport.

I only started up the thread to get some impartial advice on turntables, as I'm looking upgrade the Xpression. Heard a few of the big names around £600-£1000 budget and although good I wasn't over impressed. The only caveat to that is I haven't heard any at home on my system. Any pointers, though, would be appreciated.

Not really but had to start somewhere. *scratch_one-s_head**mosking*

Pro-ject Classic, Rega RP6 and Xperience SB. Like to hear the ClearAudio Concept MM TT but there's no dealers who stock this item without covering a lot of tarmac.
