The DAC scam

The same could be said of every hifi dealer/salesperson.

I've never met one who's been upfront or transparent about how much profit/commission they're earning from any given component incidentally....
So when you go to buy a car, a pair of shoes, a TV, or even a pint of milk, do you demand to know the buy in price and how much they're going to make out of it? It's a confidential thing, and quite rightly so, as most people don't understand the whole process (manufacturing/shipping etc), or what a manufacturer's or distributor's costs involved are in order to provide local back up services, promotion, advertising, etc etc. People just usually associate the price with a finished product, ignoring everything involved right back to obtaining the raw materials.

"Only one thing certain in life is eating beans and farting", and I remember the arguments on that forum back when Heniz brought out the five beans variety
Heinz barbeque flavoured beans should have a Government hazard warning on the label 🙂
I really hate all the sugar they put in beans, it kills the taste. Americans like their waffles, layered with thick coating of syrup, served with greasy fried eggs, carbonised bacon that use to be Mr. Porky but got struck by depleted urainium shell and don't forget the peanut butter and the jello. That's fine by me, then they have to spoil it by adding dollups of sugared beans. Aaaaaagh!

I actually prefer making my own bean stew, cooked using only finest natural ingredients, carrots, peppers, celery, some onions, tomato puree and if I want it Cypriot Greek style, throw in a lamb shank and serve it with Cornish buttered sourdough bread. Dip the bread in the sauce.
Heaven (well not if you're standing next to me!) 🙂

Surely you mean the sugar they put into the sauce...

Heinz beans have gone a long way downhill, less beans, more water, more sugar, less taste. Tesco beans are both cheaper and better. More beans, less rubbish.

You mentioned Tesco's, something weird happened with my groceries delivery.

I had home delivery yesterday, late evening.
They missed out my filtered coffee and bizarrely, they replaced it with Tesco's Finest Reserved 3 year Old Scottish Malt Whiskey (well, it's a beverage).

I asked the young lad who delivered my groceries, how did you get this wrong!
He checked his list, he said, the filtered coffee was on the list, no mention of the whiskey.
He then said, keep it!
I can't win a pound on the scratch card (maybe it's because I never play) and this seemed like I won the Jackpot. Oh well, Christmas came early.

I prefer Sainsbury's own beans - they also do a reduced sugar version, and just 40p a tin. Never thought I'd ditch Heinz, and doubt I ever will for tomato soup or ketchup - though that said, the latter is nowhere near as thick as it used to be...

We're getting rather off topic here, but I'd guess everything has been said about the original subject. Isn't there a food thread in 'off topic'? I guess we could continue over there, maybe?
