Speaker stands: spikes or no spikes?

I have an old wooden floor on which it's practically impossible to find a completely flat patch for my speaker stands (Atacama 50s) in anything like a suitable position and consequently, the stands tend to wobble a bit. In these circumstances, would the experts recommend removing the spikes to get a better footing?

Thanks...

Spikes are not neccessarily the best thing to use on wooden floors (assuming it's suspended). I'd put down some granite chopping boards and get these stable and level with felt or cork feet underneath them. Then just stick your stands on that.

Spikes are really at their best where you have carpet over a solid floor. they can send resonances into hollow wooden floors.
