So if you won £3000 to spend on an amp which one of the following would you choose,
A. Spend all £3000 on an integrated.
B Spend all £3000 on a pre-power combo.
C Spend all £3000 on a pre + 2 mono power amps or
D Spend all £3000 on an integrated and a power amp and Bi-amp.

No brand names, no secondhand, no ex demo and no E-Bay choose either
A,B,C or D.

I would choose B: Spend all £3000 on a pre-power combo. Keeping it simple and sublime

Congratulations on your win, horses or lottery ???

If I was lucky enough to have £3000 to spend I would go for E "Spend £2000 on an integrated and have 2 weeks diving in Egypt."

You have to spend the £3000 in the Hifi shop so there is no E.
Interesting to see the different answers though

There was no mention of a Hi-fi shop in the OP !!! but seriously If I had £3000 I would chose B.

Either B or D - probably on a used bit of Audio Research kit.

I'd put the money into a pre/power combo. I'd put the majority of the money into either the pre-amp or the power amp with a view to upgrading the cheaper one at a later date. So for example, get the best pre-amp I could, and a cheaper power amp, then upgrade that later. Whether I'd choose the pre or power as the main spend would depend on the efficiency of the speakers.

F. Go to Bali and hit the surf.

Who wants to waste that sort of money on HiFi? Buy Naim gear, keep it for a bit then put it on ebay. Naim is the best HiFi investment since it depreciates so little.ÿ

No idea, depends on the kit. Probably a pre/power but without trying some I don't know.

I'd have to listen to all the options and decide on what sounded best. ;)

Although probably A.

Definitely D. I'm halfway there and then only need to add this - so it might come to fruition yet
