They are rather stating the obvious IMO. Seems to be getting a little messy. I would demand a refund and just buy something a different. There are planty of other good options.

Really know how you feel.

Not rushing into anything - they already know (mooragte) I could of got a Michell Technodec for the same money

Has this happened to anyone who bought a full-priced 'A grade' RP6 ?

I am wondering if the whole idea of selling 'B grade' items is damaging to the manufacturer and their reputation and basically a really bad idea.

Until this and BBB's experience (again with Moorgate) I didn't even know this went on.

Let's face it, where (as a manufacturer) are you going to fit all your finest toleranced bits? On the full priced or 'B grade' kit?

Never mind the obvious stuff (cosmetic defects, wobbly platters etc.) how many invisibly under par components are getting onto these RP6s? How will you know if the arm really has RP3 grade or RP6 grade bearings?

How many other companies are doing this? Is it just a mechanism whereby they can 'dump' all the components that didn't quite 'make the grade' (arms, bearings, motors, sub-platters etc.) and make a bit of money rather than chase down suppliers and tighten up QC?

What I am proposing means no cheap way in to a premium brand (and possibly a commensurate rise in price to the range) but they can't continue risking their otherwise excellent reputation like this just to make short term savings with 'back door' products.

Chebby,

I am actually inclined to agree with you!

I didn't mention this before, but yesterday Moorgate had a few RP6 2nds in the window, we tried a variety of platters, sub platters on my table but to no avail, and all the RP6s in the window displayed different degress of wobble - so think there could be some truth in what you say!

Feeling angry now - as whatever I do will cost me - I know I will get a refund but I won't have a Turntable!

Rega are sending a new RP6, Moorgate have asked them to check it before it is dispatched - I asked if it was a 2nds but they said they didnt know?

Should be here on Friday - I will be going over it thoroughly and if it is not right I will be demanding a refund and looking for a new TT.

Bit pissed off with it all now!

Sorry to hear the news, that is real hassle, did they offer to loan you a TT until the new one arrives? Alos must be costing a bit of money to keep going over there?

I was considering getting a TT don't think I will bother anymore.

I can wait unitl Friday now, gives me a chance to listen to my DAC for a few days!

TBH I have tried to tie-in travelling with other things so its no problem.

I will be happy with a wobble-free RP6, but I don't have much belief it will happen!

Eh ?. There are other brands out there in the big wide world H. Plus they dont wobble.

Steve has more patience than me. Second attempt was enough I would have totaly lost faith in the brand taken my money and ran.

The saga continues.

Not sure about this Chebby but I thought that the 'B' grade was purely cosmetic not mechanical.

Well this is a sorry state of affairs Steve, I'm glad I jumped ship when I did as I really do not think this has done Rega any favours. I'm also inclined to agree that 'B ' grade just seems to down grade a 'brand' names reputation. Cyrus do the same think with their reprossessed items but I've not heard anything negative there, I guess to be fair to Rega this and BBBs experience is the first negatives I've heard about them.

Would Naim do 'B' grade? I think not!

Well done for keeping the faith so to speak as many would have told Rega to sod off by now. :shame:

yes this is how I understand it and I puchased the RP6 on this premise

How will you know if the arm really has RP3 grade or RP6 grade bearings?

The way that article reads is that the RB303 should get the same grade of bearings

Grrrr really fed up with it all now

If I get a refund gonna get a Technodec or Gyrodec

The saga continues.

No.You're confused.

Saga is the company where all the customers are wobbly.

Rega not Saga.

Dont go down the Saga route. That reminds me , Michael Parkinson hasnt written to me for a while offering a nice shiny pen if I take out death insurance.

Remember that a lot of other manufacturers use Rega arms on their turntables.

Your wobble has nothing to do with the arm does it?

Also have a look at Inspire HiFi they do some nice turntables and dont forget ClearAudio.

Don't blame you for looking for a refund I would have a long time ago.

The Mitchells look nice too, I was interested in the Technodec but went the Inspire tinkering route instead.

Good luck

PS you could always look at a s/h Technic 1200 ;)

its only been 2 days withour a TT - doing my head in now!

Been looking at Gyro & Tecnodecs - the more I look the more I want - if I get new will have to be Tecnodec with RB202 arm @£750

But I will be happy with a wobble free RP6
