It would make a refreshing change to read you Rega fanboys are actually listening to the music rather than constant tweaking. As I've always said: If it ain't broke, leave the EDITED thing alone!

There are two camps here PP. The people who have had problems with their Rega kit and are genuinely frustrated with the company and the others who simply want to get the boot stuck in. (Because Rega are successful or British or they are fed up with hearing about them or whatever.)

Yes there are two camps, a little different from your version. There are those that feel the need to "mess" with a turntable. If you buy close on a £1000 TT it shouldn't need tweaking. As I mentioned on page 3, if it isn't good enough straight from the box then bin it and buy something that doesn't need all this preening.

The second camp i.e. me and other non-Rega owners are rejoicing how lucky we are: Six years with a EDITED old Pro-ject and only changed the cart a couple of months after buying it and NOT a hint of trouble. Bliss.

Perhaps Rega are over-hyped. Maybe even you have bought into the brand Rega... maybe old gossey, goosey has dropped a big'un.

The more I read about Rega the less I'm convinced.

Don't know what you mean. Had my RP3, without any tweaking. Works out of the box beautifully. No need or urge for tweaking either. And for what it's worth: all my other Rega gear works without an itch.

Glad to know that mine is not the only RP3 with no Wobble... ;)

Nice gyro on eBay! The best I can expect on Tuesday is a replacement RP6 which I can keep or sell on and get a used Gyro

I was watching a Gyro on ebay, went for £800, which is the same price as the Clearaudio Concept PP mentioned, and after seeing the Concept up close, I'd probably go for the Gyro, lookswise anyway.

Got my Roksan the other day, but still haven't found enough time to connect the cartridge and set it up properly. Looks nice though.

Good luck with sorting everything Steve

That liddle dyna sings like a canary on one.

Buy me buy me buy me.

I was looking at one of these the other day in a shop window whilst passing by. They look even better in the flesh, one would look great in my front room, though I doubt playing about 1 LP a week would justify the outlay.

UPDATE

I can't fault Moorgate Acoustics, they agreed about the wobble and a phone call to Rega confirmed that the RP6 platter should not wobble, The Rega technical guy got the dealer to take the bearing assembly apart, clean and lubricate etc clean the brace etc but to no avail. Rega are sending a NEW deck, so left my deck there with my cart on, they will transfer the cart over for me. Fingers crossed the next one shouldn't wobble. Without vinyl for a few days but at least I've got my DAC.

however got a new HD in my MacBook replaced under warranty so not completely a wasted journey!

Nice one Steve, sounds like excellent customer service from Moorgate and Rega. Just spent a small fortune (for me) with Moorgate recently and they have helped immensely via their Facebook page with setup and other advice and sometimes at silly times of the morning as well.

Yes I knew it was a b grade cosmetic imperfection, mechanically it should be perfect and Rega have already said it isn't right so that is why I am getting a replacement

2nd Update

Had a call from Moorgate, even though they said new deck, a new brace, subplatter, platter and bearing housing arrived there this morning and was fitted to my deck - guess what? The wobble was worse!

Moorgate seem to think the subplatter interface between the resin platter and metal spindle is pressed in and there is too much tolerance there and they think a new TT will be the same but who knows!

Moorgate are waiting for a call back from Rega but looks like I will be getting a refund of £549

Looks like I will be looking for a new TT now
