It is not the subplatter, I have used bot h subs now the platter still displays the wobble!

I did try a different belt this morning bit to no avail!

Maybe I should of got a Gyrodec or Clearaudio

If I can get a replacement platter that does not wobble then I will be happy

even on the Paul Darwin Rega you tube video you can see the wobble > 1.59 secs in

Are you sure this is not some elaborate plot to upgrade your table the same time as getting the Elicit? :)

Joking aside, do you have any audible tonal deviations because of it?

If not I wouldn't worry to much about it.

Thats not the point D. 800 quid aint to sniffed at , it should run correctly. It seems that Regas quality control sucks , or it was a Friday afternoon deck.

I dont give a flying that it was a slight second , that was a cosmetic.

Just spoke to Moorgate Acoustics, the resident 'rega' expert is off today so will ring them Tuesday - though he did say it should not be wobbling and it will be covered under warranty - he seems to think that the platter should be straight as a die!

I have even out a new bearing in this morning and a few drops of oil

Still the same though

The oil as you have found wouldnt make one iota of difference.

Wish I was closer so as to come over and take the ruddy thing to bits. Anyhoo putting up with a bit of wobble , erm think towards the future when you want to flog it on.

For sale Rega RP6 ,platter wobbles a bit !!.

If the new platter wobbles I would have a re think if I was thee Steve. I dont think its wobbling as such its that the ruddy thing isnt sitting down flat or the underside of the platter aint parallel to the top face.

Update!

Got everthing cleaned up with alcohol ie subplatter/underside of platter that comes in contact with sub asembly

I may be wrong - but it could possibly be the sub platter - The GT & Gus's subplatter display more wobble than the Rega Sub Platter, however it is quite minimal on the Rega sub - grrrrr serves me right for tweaking

 . You can only polish a turd so much Steve.

Even so the Regas sub shouldnt bloody wobble , thats just crap cost cutting engineering full stop.

This swear filter is cracking eh. The edited word was a poo lump but began with T. Four letters ,lol.

yeah my worst fears confirmed!

The interference on the Rega sub spindle is a lot less than Gus's sub

When I put the Rega Sub in it sinks very slowly into place, however Gus's just drops straight in so it has some play in it which is getting amplified (no pun inteneded) to the platter resulting in a bigger wobble :)

Sticking with the Rega sub then and yes your right Floyd can only polish a turd so much!

Next up then....

Can you get a refund from Gus ?.

Next TT upgrade , dont go Rega ,lol. You will save a fortune in the long run.

Sticking to my guns though Steve. I dont care how little the Rega wobbles ,it shouldnt.

I think Rega have become more popular than they can cope with. Even before the new RP6 and RP8 models they were shipping over 1000 TTs per month and vinyl (for some bizzare reason) is getting more popular year on year.

Rega have also had two new amps, a DAC (and a forthcoming new CD player or two) to deal with.

They are not the sort of company to take on temporary staff short-tem (then fire them) or farm out production to third parties. Waiting lists only tend to alienate people.

I wish them well (and I might be wrong about their situation) but I think success is getting to them (at least with the turntable part of the business).

Maybe all is well really and we only get to hear about odd examples that slip the net.

I hope so.

Am a bit gutted really TBH, the TT sounds really nice - but with the motor spindle looking misaligned surely the law of physics dictates that this will wear things out?

Now I know the motor spindle is skewed and the platter is wobbling (albeit very slightly) it will annoy me until its right!

I think you have hit the nail on the head here Chebby. They really do need to get their act in gear because bad news travels fast.

They cant afford for even the odd rogue to slip through the net. Its war out there in TT land at entry and the just above entry level price point.

Exactly Steve , as Cno also alluded to , it would drive me scat. This is the web mate and gawd knows how many potential TT noobs are reading this thread as they are thinking of starting out with Rega.

I've just been on the blower to my mate who is a Project dealer. I asked him how many TTs has he had to replace due to bad engineering etc.

None , and he sells boat loads.

Clearaudio , ok up the ladder somewhat.

None.

I'm sure you will sort it.

My table of choice would be one of the suspended Mitchells.

Having said that, I know what you can get out of good, older second hand turntables so I personally would not spend that much but invest in a decent cartridge.

Absolutely :)

For what it's worth (and despite my Rega mockery), I like to minimalist look of the RP6 and so many people can't be wrong.

Still get a suspension platform though ...
