I have just watched Stereo Phil's latest video on his Cheshire Audio youtube channel. He reported a conversation with a Rega rep saying that the new Rega Apollo cd player could be out in the autumn. Timing still a bit vague though.

Yes, before CD new Phono MM will arrive. I had waited for new Saturn mk3 so long till it was out of production. I ended with demo Moon 260 D. Excellent machine as well. I used Rega Jupiter 2000 for some 13-14 years. Very good and reliable machine. BR.

New CD player is this the 1980s
Rega are bringing a Scart lead to a USB Fight, S/PDIF socket to a Roon Fight ,
Rega are 20years late to the party
Streaming is a Small market , Spotify alone, estimates suggest roughly 8+ trillion streams per year

Just in time for the CD-revival. More and more companies are jumping on the CD-bandwagon. The vinyl hype did his job, now it's time for the new hype. And in general, CD's sound better than streaming, but that's mainly because the mastering is not a victim of the loudness war (for older CD's). Streaming services mainly use the "remastered" versions, which are in almost all occasions crap.

I have a soft spot for Rega, but they do have a strange habit of late: being slow to release products with deliberately less “modern” feature sets.

Arguably timing matters less when you’re not competing with brands on including the very newest dac or similar. But it does seem like they could lose sales from customers getting tired of waiting, like example from @Integralista
