its a tricky one this is!

If he is at fualt then surely the insurance wont pay out!

How much is a new platter?

Ask him to refund you for a new platter on the presumption that the TT is fine!

Hope you get it sorted (again)

Did you get your refund from MA?

From professional experience, insurance companies will assume that if the original packaging has been used then the courier has caused the damage, even if the box is not damaged itself.

Well, that's up to the seller if he wants to claim on the insurance, that's presuming he did insure it, as the label on the box says UPS Standard.

He's a f*****g d**k if he's charged me all that money for insured postage, and not bothered to do it. If that's true, than I'm going to make him really wish he had.

Hi

Stop whining and open a case report on ebay on the grounds of not as described, the seller will refund you on 100% + shipping costs( to you) yes you'll have to pay the shipping costs back!

And go out with the refund and buy a NEW TT Rega or what ever!

Well, thanks again for your response, but I'm not paying a penny, as it's not my fault. So if you don't mind, you can stick your advice right up your a**e.

And my "where the sun doesn't shin" will be a happy fella!

I did, and the advice on there was to contact the seller first, so I did.

Now if you were inserting your advice, you may now remove it.

I think we're at peace now.

I'll be opening a case in the morning if I haven't heard from the seller by then, and I've decided to get a full refund, and go back to my Debut III for now.

I agree, in this day and age everyone has regular access to email on there phones/tablets!

When I sent my RP3, I rang the guy to make sure he got it ok so I had peace of mind!

Shame really as the RP6 & Concept are both great decks!

There have been a couple of "slight seconds" RP6 on eBay recently — but have been put off buying such things by this thread.

I was waiting for some to become available but — hmmmm — only if I can see it first I think.

Mine was perfect! Inspected & collected in person from Moorgate Acoustics - sadly Ben has been extremely unlucky - but I am happy as a pig in ****

How did that get through?

.

What do you mean?

I went to collect it - all fine

I mean how did your final comment make it through the censor police on this site?

We all learn by experience and as I said earlier in this thread, dont have turntables sent to you.

Collect or dont buy if it is to far away.

But I too would take it up with the seller first. Most things can be settled amicably.

You did say, and I can see now that it was good advice.

I'm miffed though, as I was watching a badly described Sansui SR -212 on ebay, and thought about bidding as it wasn't too far away. Changed my mind because I thought my wife would moan about buying 2 turntables. It sold for £22.50

He hasn't responded yet, but as he didn't actually mark the turntable as dispatched, or notify me, he's obviously not big on communication.

I've taken some good photos, which I might try to upload here (if anyone would like to see the damage that is).

He packed everything well, but he placed the platter the wrong way up, and he didn't turn the feet back.

I'm so tempted to keep the turntable, as everything else seems perfect (though I haven't attempted to use it), but I'm worried that this could have caused other unseen damage, and may cause problems inthe long run.

I can not believe my luck.

I haven't read every post but if there is a possibility of keeping the turntable you better try and use it now, before you sort damages out, to see if all else is ok. - It is difficult to see from your picture how large/deep these two indents are but if they're only very slight I doubt it would make a difference to sound or the balance of the platter. - An off-centre label would probably make more of a difference. I hope you keep and enjoy this nice table. If you can sort a replacement platter out even better.

regards

Pity. Not bad turntables those SR-212's, and for that price a no-brainer. I had one a few months ago that sold for £75.00.

Some light at the end of the tunnel. The seller has turned out to be a decent bloke, and he's agreed a full refund of both the buying price and postage cost. He's also agreed to arrange a courier to come and collect the damaged turntable on Friday.

And I've also received the refund for the RP6 from MA.

Excellent news!

Not long now until the 40th Anniversary RP3 is in the shops!

I'm going to stick with the Debut III for now, but maybe look out for a bargain on ebay like the Sansui I missed out on.

Was looking at this, as it's very close to where I live, but the sellers feedbacks worries me a little, and to me, it looks just too good, like it's been varnished.

That LP12 went for £500 in the end, and it seems the seller wasn't happy with that price, as he relisted it for sale, only for ebay to remove the listing.

He's got form for that, so I'm pleased I never went for it.

Glad you got it all sorted in the end.

Enjoy the Debut.

Why don't you try that new cart on it

I thought about that, but I'm not sure it'll improve things that much with the Debut. I think I'll keep it back for when I do get a new turntable.

Keep your eyes open for an ebay bargain for me Andy, I haven't given up just yet.
