how about a basic Rega P3 and get it inspired!

Big plus 1 there but make it a P3-24

I'm loving it

Glad you got it all sorted in the end.

Enjoy the Debut.

Why don't you try that new cart on it

I thought about that, but I'm not sure it'll improve things that much with the Debut. I think I'll keep it back for when I do get a new turntable.

Keep your eyes open for an ebay bargain for me Andy, I haven't given up just yet.

I'm a bit scared too after last time

Don't worry Andy, the Concept was a good spot, and the condition was great, it's just a shame the seller didn't take enough care when he packed it.

I'm thinking about lowering the budget hugely though, and really trying to source a bargain classic deck, just to see how it coimpares to the Debut. Thinking something like a Sansui, Pioneer, or other Japanese makes from the 70s/80s. Maybe a Thorens too.

AndyBeau,

Did Inspire keep your P3-24 gloss white plinth?

Just that they have one on ebay - i fancy a little project, might upgrade platter on my RP6, i have a spare subplatter, belt, mat - all i would need is a motor and arm!

Turntables are quite smple so cant be that hard can it to build one!

Anyone got an idea of what I should be paying for the Thorens TD-125 mk2, and the reality of what it'll probably go for?

I'd be happy to pay £200 to £250 for it. Its a good Turntable and has suspension. The cartridge is the AT95e, nothing to special but probably good enough to last a little while if you're outspent.

Can you collect? - Check the main bearing for play and arm for free movement. Then give it a little new oil and finally, hopefully enjoy your vinyl again.

If I could get it for £250, I'd be very happy, but I have a feeling that it's going to go higher than that. I still have my brand new Shure cartridge, so I could maybe use that with it.

I was going to collect if I won it, so I will check it out, though my knowledge is limited. I guess if the bearing has any play in it, or the arm doesn't move really easily, I should leave it with the seller.

Thanks for the advice.

You never know. It seems in lovely condition.

If you win it there will be plenty of people here to help you with what to look for, including little me.

Steve will no doubt be heart broken that you didn't buy a rega but he will get over it, eventually.

Regarding the Shure, if it is the M97xe then that is a high compliance cartridge for low mass tonearms. I am not sure what the arm on this 125 is but a quick email should sort that out. - The Linn/AT95 that comes with the table is a medium compliance cart for medium mass arms (as far as I know).

Good luck with the bidding.
