I am about to replace my ageing very noisy 80gb PVR, with something with a bit more storage (160gb-250gb) the thing is it must be quiet in its operation. The old one was so noisy it required placing in a cabinet with a glass door, but still could be heard whirring away. Also I have wondered at the plausibility of looking for a PVR with hdmi output for when the BBC start showing HD content on freeview. The other option would be to get a DVD recorder with HDD but so far have been unable to find one with 2 digital tuners, the best you can get is 1 analogue and 1 digital. Any advice on this would be appreciated.

I think I wil go for the Toppy, it seems to be the best PRV on the market and I can connect it to my PC via usb as well.

I have the Humax, and although it's very good, it's not silent. Though I have good hearing and the wife doesn't notice. Now does it have HDMI and it won't upscale.

With regards showing HD content when/if BBC go over freeview I don't think any you buy now will work as I think they would need an HD tuner...

There is the Sony RDR-HXD970 which has HDMI, DVD player and recorder, can upscale to 1080p, 250GB HDD, and has twin tuners. Though I'm not sure if both of them are digital and you should check this. I have relatives who got the RDR-HXD870 which only has ONE digital and ONE analog tuner so it's a bit of a pain.
