" Even an entry-level audio-grade power cords ($95) can make a sigbificant difference in the sound of a system. Replacing all the stock black

AC cords with entry-level cords takes you much of the state of the art in AC power. More expensive cords are generally beter-sounding in some manufacturers' line, but even the basic cords can render a significant improvement over stock cords. "

The Complete Guide to Hgh-End Audio by Robert Harely , Ch. 15 p. 411

Robert is the editor of 'absolute sound' magazine, and arguably has a dog in this fight. I don't have the book you mention, does he go on to explain why changing the mains lead can make 'a significant improvement over stock cords'?

OK, argument over. It's written in a book so it must be true.

As long as the unit receives AC power it doesn't care what sort of connecting wire is used, so buying an expensive aftermarket power lead is simply throwing your money away. Use the one in the box and if you have money burning a hole in your pocket give it to charity.

Changing the lead on our kettle definitely makes the tea taste better. The background in the taste is significantly darker and the overtones are much brighter than before.

Leaf it out! An aftermarket kettle lead is merely a nice little urner for the manufacturers of such leads. It makes my blood boil. You are potty for suggesting it because it will only brew up trouble.

I expect you realise by now that cables are not my bag, sorry for any infusion caused.

All I am saying is there was definitely a difference for the better. Not massive but I think a worthwhile difference for the money. The sound was just more liquid/smooth and more coherent. It was quite suprising.

The cable was £40. I'm happy. I don't care about anyone else or care for people jumping dowm my throat. I am just stating my opinions and what I am hearing. There are many cables with money back guarantee offers. I don't know why people don't take them up if they are curious.

Good bye you puerile lot.

I had the same results once changing my AC cords to the Wireworld entry level ones the sound was more smooth and coherent too , the bass

was more in control . I don't care what other people in this forum say too .my ears are the best test to proove it .

If 1m of Wireworld Stratus 7 makes such improvement, just imagine the sound if you ran it for 50m directly to the utility pole outside.

Yup, that's the same old curt obnoxious responses from that loser. Like what Vladimir says, he's my Nurse Ratched, and I would certainly love to shut him up for good just like in the movie but unfortunately I've never been that lucky in life.

So what are you saying, you want to silence anyone who questions your faith? Or just the ones that take the piss?

Nope only the obnoxious ones who make holier than thou statements like "Your ears lie". At least many other cable sceptics find better ways to make their point.

OK, just obnoxious then. Obviously those that consider cables to have their merits are outnumbered by the likes of you on this diseased forum.

After following a few similar threads to this, if I were What Hi-Fi I would certainly accidentally delete the entire forum during routine maintenance as it can't be doing their star system much good at all - Years ago we had to believe what we were told from experts as there was no other frame of reference now the cat is out of the bag - I also feel that some of the nonsense talked about cables applies to mid to high end cars with no room in also among other things.

The truth will set you free from making ad hominem attacks on people that speak the truth.

It was a statement of fact. My ears lie too, because some days music sounds good and some days it's not so good.
