Razorgrass,

Refuse the engineer fix and ask for a replacement.

My first Panasonic died, Comet tried to force a repair on me, however after contacting Panasonic they said Comet must replace the TV if that is what I wanted.

Comet just need to contact Panasonic for a returns authorisation and you should receive a new TV from Comet.

Seconded- phone them up and refuse an engineer visit to repair. He can come and diagnose it is faulty but no repair. Tell them he can bring a new one if he wants but the moment you accept the first repair, it might make it more difficult to get an exchange if something else goes wrong.(it will still be within your rights, but it may be more of a hassle.)

thanks michael/max/ravey - i definitely am going to go down the replacement/refund rout! am not spending £2000 on what is going to basically be a refurbed TV.

I'd demand a replacement.....

Does that make it a 3* tv now

I'll get my coat.............................

David Harwood:
You can demand a refund and if you purchased the TV online rather than in person at a store - you will be also covered by the distance selling regulations.

If you come unstuck, I would contact Consumer Direct. Here is a good link: http://www.consumerdirect.gov.uk/after_you_buy/

thanks. i might just go down the refund rout and go somewhere else. i have had nothing put problems with them i'd still be waiting for the TV if i had not rang them (been waiting 5 weeks already) they said "no delivery date on there system" i got it two days later after i rang them though.
