loving every moment of it, picture is exceptional, std dvds look excellent upscaled through my HD DVD player (EP30) and the 2 free HD DVDs look amazing too....i am one happy chappy!

and fitting the box upright on the back seat of a mondeo was fine, got home ok.

So glad you like it as am hoping to get this TV soon. Take it that it was easy to set up?

What do you think of the sound as some say it isn't good whilst others say it is fine?

yep, very easy----but when assembling you need 2 peeps really, as you need to manover the set onto its stand so you can bolt it down.

only prob i have is that i need ariel sorting as only pick up a hand full of freeview channels.

the sound is good to me as i had an old phillips CRT before, also i have now linked it to an old hi fi system via the audio out connections, its an old denon amp connected to a pair of old kef coda 7s speakers, it sounds better throughthem but the amp has no remote so its a pain getting up all the time at the mo!!!

It sounds like putting the stand together and manouevering the TV onto it may be the hardest part?

Am I right in thinking the sound is Nicam Stereo? I was hoping it would be okay without speakers?

I have the Panasonic 32LXD700 LCD and the sound (to me) is excellent so I was hoping the Plasma would be the same?

Hope you manage to get the aerial sorted out. A good wideband aerial isn't very expensive. I would say check your coax cable as well as I got a new aerial but was still getting a lot of break up in signal and it turned out there were joins in the cable!

im hearing a lot about this stand all the time. is it practical to put it on a diferent stand, as long as you've got one suitable for the size?

I managed to put the TV onto the stand myself but its not advisable as its heavy and should it slip out of your hands then it will be off to buy another!!

Can`t give you my experience of it as I haven`t connected it together yet! (Due to relocation of wires etc.)

Re putting it onto another stand then yes you can providing you have the appropriate bracket - don`t expect to be able to stand it without support.

Big whine coming up - thats very dissapointing. What happenned to putting a telly on a stand and leaving well alone? Why does everything have to be such a flippin kerfuffle...? Pah! Many thanks for the response.

dont get me wrong the stand is very easy to put together but you really should use 2 people for this, if you do it should take no more than 5 mins....

from TV arrival to switch on too me not more than 30min and that includes attaching up everything and the auto set up.

as regards sound, its fine with the TV by itself, it just sounds better amped through my speakers....am getting a proper av reciever and speakers soon so sound sound amazing then!

I've had my TH37PX80 for just over a week now and I can only echo the comments above.... The TV is superb, I'm thrilled with it. Picture quality is excellent. DVDs look superb and my Xbox 360 Elite looks Alpine-pristine via the HDMi connection! I couldn't believe the difference from my old component/CRT setup. Sky quality varies from channel to channel of course, but that is inherent to the Sky platform. (BBC one through Sky looks great, but Dave looks not so good....) On the whole I am very happy with 90% of all Sky channel picture quality so I can't grumble. The inbuilt free-view tuner is excellent. (It changes channel quickly which I also like. A bugbear of mine is that on some free-view boxes scrolling through the channels can take ages as each one has a slight delay while it refreshes the channel / programme info. Grrr.) The sound is absolutely fine, in fact it's good, much better than my old CRT. Setup was a breeze. As earlier poster stated, I took about 35 mins from arriving home with the box to sitting on the couch with a beer basking in the splendour of my new TV. I put my set onto a pedestal stand and it was a two man job, but a very quick and painless one. (The set isn't heavy, but it's awkward to lift by yourself due to the size of it.) Hope these comments help others inform their purchase. If you buy this set you won't look back. It rocks in a big way.

So...i think i may have misunderstood. is it just a bracket that the telly needs in order to stand up on whatever stand your using - (like the bit attached to a pc monitor?)? Or are we talking about an AV stand that means i wont be able to use my own choice...?

It's a table stand, fits to the screen and holds it upright when you put on top of the rack or table or whatever. You can see it in all the pictures of the product.

Aha! Its the contradiction between those pictures and what i THOUGHT - quite wrongly - people were saying, that led to my confusion. Thanks for clearing that up sir!

Cheers for that Mike.

Glad you are enjoying your TV and hope I will be soon. Enjoying mine not yours that is!lol

So you think the sound is perfectly okay without an external sound system? I really hope it is as good as the 32LXD700 LCD I have.

When are you getting yours?

When I get enough money!

You might find that a powered arial amplifier solves the problem. Without one I can get about 3 channels, with one I can get the whole lot and with a very strong signal.

It is about time WHF did a review of the TH37PX80. It has been out for well over a month now.

Which is where I will be when the missus comes home and finds I've spent all day watching Sky HD. (and browsing this forum)

Mine is called a "Smartpoint". Its basically a box that plugs directly into the mains (a bit like a automatic timer). It has a 13 amp out on it and an aerial in and out socket. Unfortunately I can't give you any further details as it doesn't have a model number and I got it about seven years ago to try and improve the reception of analogue ch4 and ch5 before they became available on Sky digital. The improvement it made then was marginal, but it seems to be the difference between getting freeview or not. I think it came from Currys or similar and they probably have better versions of it now.
