ah well at least you havn't had to take all the loss, and you have the opportunity to research a new tv with most of you're money still in you're pocket.

a fully functioning v20 is very hard to beat for the money, but there are lots of great tv's out there, at least you have the little lg to watch while you decide what to buy.

I wish I had the money to just right off £250!

After reading this thread I feel sorry for you Gel. I think in the future you should avoid the shop in question. Without delving I wouldn't think that an AV shop can do that much for someone outside of giving advice, demo and maybe a wee discount. Thats their job!

What/where is the shop in question. One for people to avoid me thinks!

Hi bobby

Well i am definetely going to have to get a discount next time. I have had quite a few installation jobs done and so has my family and that can cost alot depending who you go with. It also really was a chain of bizarre circumstances as well.

Cheers Mate

gel, if you are considering a samsung plasma, then dont buy a 50c6900, look instead at the 50c7000, if you can find one, it has deeper blacks and is therefore a better tv, both are 3d, which i know you dont care much for, but it may be nice to have..

I am using a 26inch samsung at present but cannot see me going that route for a big tv though i do not like the mains issue, with turning it on and off.

I would really like a black tv it definetely blends in best with my system and at night time it looks really good i cannot see me rushing into anything.

Cheers for the tip though

maxflinn:any news gel? are you using you're old philips tv at the moment? any ideas what tv you will buy next? another v20?

Well Max, it is like this i have quite a few conversations with my family and now we are going to share the bill.

Thanks for all the advice under any other circumstances guys i would have followed it up straight away but the people involved have done load of things for me and my family in the past - they really have.

Also alot of strange things happened from the minute i had the first tv.

I am

, nope i am using a 26inch samsung lcd i have the philips got sold which i really regret now but made that decision when i got the panasonic 50inch back - i never thought so many other things were going to happen.

Not a bloody clue Max what to do now, i still cannot quite understand what happened here. I have got a few things going on in my life at the moment which might mean i could possibly do things that are not possible at the moment for me though which could be quite good.

I cannot see me going back to the V20 i mean so many things happened with it and all those settings as well would come into play again.

Looks like i am going back to doing demos for a while i am looking forward to reading the next issue of what hi fi and Clare has already said there are going to be quite a few more tvs reviewed before the awards. I probaly take real note to what is said in the next few issues.

Cheers

How about you what do you think will happen now with you?

Sorry gel, but that attitude is pathetic when it comes to dealing with a retailer.

So, the TV was possessed, and you are about to realise your destiny? Are you sure this isn't the first draft of The Deep we're reading here - the one before they decided to make it seem like it had a plot?

Go easy on the lad! Not everyone likes confrontation. I wouldn't stand for it personally. Mind you a couple of years ago I'd have dragged the salesman over the counter till I got my money back. That wouldn't be very clever though!

Having a dodgy TV and not getting your rights is not a mistake. Sorry, but if you a have a faulty piece of equipment, you sort it out, absolutely. What happens the next time he/she gets a dud? Sort it out gel!!

Really? Do people take any notice of that?

Interesting that you assume he's young; even more interesting that you think he may occasionally be winding us up...

no, to be fair ive never said anything other than how dissapointed i was that my tv has these issues, given how good the tv is otherwise, and that if they are an inherant issue of every v20 then i think they are not a good buy, at this point i simply dont know, hence my accepting a replacement..

I definetely did not ignore it, i wrote down the number straight away and talked it through with my family but we wanted to have a relationship with the shop for future work, which we are going to need and where i am there is no one else i can ask without it costing a fortune.

The advice was spot on and would have taken it in any other cirumstance and i would have taken it here apart from my family.

Cheers guys

I think the problem here Gel is that we are struggling to grasp the special relationship you have with this retailer. I have never heard such devotion. As for future work, after ripping me off to the tune of £250 they would be the last dealer I would be going to.
