May be you already mentioned this.. How is the lower-mid bass response of Jadis? Is it tight enough or you found it to be hugely better in AMS 35i / Inpol2?

Jadis with KT90 valves is not that bad in this respect. It cannot surely compete with the low frequency of AMS...but the bass is still very present, punchy and tight. Don't feel it as a weak point considering my music collection so far

TBF, I haven't heard anything around the price of the 35i that can compete with the bass.

Thanks acalex. There are some friends across the pond driving tidal standmounts with some serious valve mono blocks! Next visit, I will get to see and hear more.

However I was till date some what reserved about the valves in Power stage. Your assurance and other friends of mine doing this present me a possibility to getting to the glow !!

If I would ever change the Jadis (for the Inpol 2) it would be at no cost (2nd hand)...almost mission impossible...or really low cost (max 1k euro).

At this regard, how would you assess the price of a second hand item like the Jadis considering is in my possession not even from 6 months and it is basically brand new?

No idear my friend thats really something you have to determine for your self....(Considering what it's worth, what you payed etc...)

But if you really feel the Impole would be great step forward an you think is worth it for you Wel I can only say you should do it, It will hopefully give you peace of mind.

D'ont get me wrong It's a superb peace I it was really good (not so much as yuo :shhh: ) Is it worth the strech that's something you have to make out for your self.

Personaly I think it's to close to you're Jadis to strech any money but that's me......

It's a pitty it's so far otherwise I say we go for an other demo an take the Jadis with us (but hey if you want we can do that, it might help you decide)

You are right...the problem is that it is impossible to find a good used in Belgium/Netherlands...I found some good deals in Italy but there they are really not giving me proper money for the Jadis (the best I received is a 2300 euro evaluation).

I also thought about going back there with the Jadis but it is indeed very far and plus I didn't like the policy the guy has there...basically he does not deal with any second hand or ex-demo product...and I really do not want to invest more than 1000 euro now on the swap (if I decide is worth).

The Inpol 2 makes sense for a couple of reason

1. I am not looking for a step up but, as you say, for my peace of mind. I really like the Jadis...and I enjoy very much all the "usual" music I listen. But sometimes when I put something more energic on I am missing the punch of the AMS...so the Inpol 2 would be great to preserve what I really like from Jadis and add a bit more of what I am missing on Jadis

2. It has much more current then the Jadis so it would become a bit easier to match with proper speakers (Francis also said that driven by the Jadis the Guarneri Memento are showing 90% of their potential)

My dream was an ideal swap, my Jadis which is almost brand new against a second hand Inpol 2. Of course through a proper dealer. I would like still to upgrade from Francis but I do not think he can get this am pin stock

What do you think? Am I just going crazy? :wall:

I think you need to be careful not to get caught in the "upgrading trap," where the fun is in the chase and you find yourself listening to the weaknesses of your system, rather than the strengths.

This is inclined to happen as you listen to ever more expensive (and wonderful sounding) kit.....I have a personal formula that says, you have to double the cost of a piece of kit to get a really meaningful upgrade (provided the kit suits your taste and is amongst the best available at the price).

I also think that it's impossible to properly assess the full potential of what your amp is capable of, until it is at the heart of an appropriate system. I know you have your heart on the SFs, but I think you should to try and get a listen to some Audio Note AN/Es, ideally with their expensive silver cables (Sogon - i/c and s/c). This I believe will "set your amp free" and quite possibly give you the sound you're after.

I agree with cno on getting caught in the upgrade 'game'.. It is just that one needs to be very clear about what the goal posts are and not to change them every now and then.

I do change the components all the time. Initially I was a bit lost as I always believed that I will keep the system for some years. Then I realized that I am not fitting into the classic definition ' buy, hold on to the items for atleast few years if not till they decay and then get new components. Again wait for 5-10 years for next upgrade'. A friend of mine fits this classic definition and he changes the system almost 10 years once.

Well once I realzed that I am not fitting the classic definition then only thing left out beyond the incovenience buying & selling is possibly loosing money. It is more like running costs of a car. If I set aside 300euros a month then in a year if I loose 3600 euros then it is still fine.

When I started out with this attitude, I am able to enjoy more components at home. Some are keepers, some stayed longer and some stayed only for few weeks. Surprisingly the 3600 euro that was earmarked never eroded so much as HiFi has better resale than a used car! And with a little bit careful looking around I am able to get better deals around. Ex - Pathos Inpol2 for 2850 Euros including one year warranty from the dealer or the PV1 subwofer for 200 Euros (worked great for 4 years and recently got exchanged with a dealer for a new PV1D) Ofcourse the timing has to be right as well !

That is me.. But you started with the idea of keeping Jadis for longer time, I believe. Depreciation might be almost same for 6 months or 1 year so I would say wait till the time you get the right deal but try not to stop looking out ans stay open for new possibilities.

When I tell my wife about the find of the week, she gets surprised from time to time that there is so much variety and possibility to hear let us say Hallelujah 🙂

The most I have been working in the same place was 1,5 years...at the beginning of my career. I have always left the job myself as not interesting/challenging/varoius enough. Now I am close to close a new record as I am still working for the same company after 13 months....but since a few weeks I am starting to update my CV again and re-opening my network...

Is it probably the same with hi-fi? :quest:
