Well I am disgusted at your responses, so much so I am going to post my finding on how HDMI cables dont and do make a difference at the same time whilst using a 200.00 mains vs a 2.00 mains vs HDMI 1.3 vs 1.2 multiplier, vs amp fuse ratio

LOL

I also dont hold much weight in spending up to and over 100.00 for a 2.00 power cable.

What I do not understand is how copper and silver and braiding and solid core and silver plugs and nickel plugs and different types of cable sheathing can, according to the cable makers, all improve the sound? It does not appear to matter how you make the cable and what you make the cable with, you will get better sound.

Hi Jase, sorry I have defected to the other side.

Making cables lead to reading up on materials to use and the contradiction that different materials and means of construction end up all, according to the different makers, resulting in improvements.

Then further reading lead to a lot of blind tests. I found that with speakers blind tests tend to find differences, with bit rates, amps and CDPs there are differences, but not so easy to spot. But with cables, nothing. One was a very well run test of mains cables and people reported hearing a difference between the same cable! (Four cables were disguised with the same covering and two were the same).

There are very good placebo, psychoacoustic and justification of purchase reasons why cables can be perceived to sound different. But that is in the mind and not the cable.

I agree that the placebo effect is not only real but also very important! Look how often in drugs tests the sample who have taken the placebo drug actualy experience benefits. The same must be true of expensive cables to the same sort of degree - if you believe that theywill sound better then they probably do.

Even if you have identical equipment running side by side and with all settings identical there may still be differences in p/s quality. Bottom line is if you can afford the 'upgrade' and you believe it has made improvements then you can relax and enjoy.

grdunn123:can you still buy graphic equalizers?? ?I remember seeing them years ago with all those slider controls and flashing lights and thinking that they looked wonderful!

I assume Musicraft sell them, since Rick mentioned them.

Andy,

I see from your signature you have a Tacima mains conditioner, this is all you need, dont waste your money on fancy cables which will do nothing except impoverish you and increase the makers profits.
