I want to know if there is any good equalizer I can get with a budget of around +-500?

I have a difficult room and I can either improve the tone with a certain speaker placement or get good imaging with another but not both at the same time (more then 100 hours of moving thing around and measuring/listening done). And I also have a small peak at 1-2 khz and a dip around 200 hz that makes rock music a bit thin. I guess an equlizer with a bypass or tone defeat like button would be great.

I know its not popular but I really want to try an equalizer. They have gone very unpopular but still, can someone point some good equalizers please?

There's a reason they are unpopular - they don't improve the sound!

they 'alter' the sound, so they do work

problem is that you end up sliding the knobs everytime a new song starts playing and you never relax and enjoy the music

there are some good older ones for .... check out the old Pioneer SG 9800 and the Luxman equalizers
