At the outset I would like readers to excuse my ignorance. I downloaded an application today from itunes called "Top 100's by Year". I can now see the downloaded application in itunes under the Applications folder. Now what? I tried double clicking on it. I tried syncing with my ipod. Nothing. What exactly did I purchase for US$1.99?
How do I access my downloaded application?

Depends what kind of iPod it is. Don't think they work on traditional iPods, only Touch and iPhone.
Considering Apple knows what iPods you have mated with your iTunes library, surely it's not beyond its all-seeing-powers to flash up a warning when you try to buy/download something from the iTunes Store that wouldn't work with your registered 'Pods.... But then of course they wouldn't make money from such errors
