Hi Guys,

first time poster!

I've had an old JVC system for a while , it was a hand me down from my dad, however they are very much on there way out now. (i think they're ~15 years old). i have been looking around for a new one now. i really wouldnt mind something similar, very basic.

at the moment mine consists of 2 bookeshel speaker, about 30 cm and 60w each, then the centre part, with CD radio and importantly aux in. all my music is on an MP3 player, laptop or LP (but i have an LP player). from my searches i seem to be getting things overpriced as they have lots of features i dont need or not good enough quality as this is compromised by being blutooth/wireless etc...

im looking to pay up to £130 so i know im not going to get anything unbelivable, but i do want the best sound quality i can get, and it feels like i'd be selling myself short by getting one with features i wont use and compromised sound quality.

OR has the world just moved on? :(
has anyone else has this or know what to do?

many thanks for any help or advice, all of which would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum!

130£ is a very tight budget. Do you need (wish) to replace the whole set now? Or can you take it in stages and swap step by step as funds allow? Anything broken at the moment? 15 years is a respectable age for a hifi-set, but it is not a compelling reason for ditching it.

If this is the total budget, you probably better look at second hand gear.

second hand gear will get you something decent for your £130 budget:

£45 gets you a Marantz PM 43 integrated:

£17.43 gets you a brand new New Behringer UCA-202 off ebay:

£48 gets you Mission 761 speakers:

that works out to approx £110 and you will have a pretty decent setup .... plug your laptop into the DAC ... and your turntable into the amp

thats just one example of what can be had on the 2nd hand market (for cheap)
