not sure about an order but my list definately has to have Platoon, Great Escape, Saving Private Ryan, Glory, and Good Morning Vietnam.

Worst by far has to be We Were Soldiers or The Patriot. yes there is a theme there but not because of Mel Gibson.

1. Full Metal Jacket

2. ummmh.....ummmh........I guess I don't really watch war films

This won't attract too many, but here goes:

1) Regeneration (flopped at the box office, but very, very hard-hitting)

2) The Dam Busters

3) The Hill

4) Schindler's List

5) Where Eagles Dare.

There's my top five based on how many times I watch them.

I love war films, these are probably my favourites

1. Full Metal Jacket - absolutely brilliant, the sequence with the young girl sniper leaves you with a really awful feeling in your stomach.

2. Apocalypse Now - amazingly powerful, Brando is brilliant, that final half an hour or so where the cow gets it is sometimes too much, and have to do a fast forward.

3. Jarhead - good performances, looks great on Blu Ray.

4. Black Hawk Down - first time I saw this I didnt like it, but it really grows on you after watching a second time.

Love Das Boot. Have that on Directors Cut.

Bridge on the River Kwai is a scriptwriters dream, especially at the end when Alec Guiness says: "What have I done." and then falls on to the plunger and blows the bridge up. Probably the best ending of all war films - correction, any film. Fabulous.

I would thoroughly recommend to anyone who hasn't seen it.
