My top choices are:

Apocalypse Now
Matter of Life and Death
Hurt Locker
Inglorious Basterds

Platoon is usually on top of most lists but I must admit this movie never really did much for me..

If anyone can get hold of a copy of "We Can Take It!" It is recognised by most historians as the finest war film ever made. The thing is it isn't a war film: It's a documentary made in 1940 about a day in London during the Blitz, which was made for an American audience.

Made a mistake with the title: It is called "London Can Take It!"

Cheers for that nodnarb444. I've actually just ordered this.



I first saw this propaganda film on old cine celluloid at the IWM research section a few years ago. Although grainy in quality, I was captivated by it. Hopefully, it'll come before Xmas. This film is also very poignant as my Dad served with Coastal for almost two years, flying the big Sunderland and Catalina flying-boats, protecting the Russian convoys - and PRU.
