connecting marantz pm6005 to my soundblaster z via optical

i am thinking to buy a marantz pm6005 and to connect it to my music on my pc via the optical in on my soundblaster z card.

will this work and are there any restrictions in quality compared?

There should not be any issues, just make sure that your optical cable does not get bent.

EDIT: What would be the distance between your PC and amplifier?
