A38 optical no sound

I want to connect my Behringer UCA222 to my Audio Pro A38 via optical.


I can hear the source e.g cassette via headphones in the UCA222 with monitor on.


On the A38 I have selected Optical and have a red led on the speaker. If I look down the optical cable I can see red light.


But no sound.


Using these two devices


Yamaha KX-800 cassette deck


Behringer UCA222 ADC analogue to digital.


Any advice please.

Do you have the USB on the Behringer plugged in for power?

Yes into my pc. I did try it in a my normal USB power supply but that did not turn on the Behringer. I wonder why?

Possibly the wrong voltage? Anyway, as long as the red light comes on, it's powered up. Unfortunately I don't have the answer. It should be good to go. Sorry.

Check the optical output (without the cable in) to see if it emitting light - if not, it’s the settings within the unit. If it is outputting light, it’s either settings within the receiving item, or some settings in the outputting item that aren’t comparible with the receiving item. Or maybe the optical cable has broken.
