Bi-wire Chord Carnival Silverscreen or single wire Chord Rumour?

When looking at speaker cable upgrades, I am faced with a choice; do I buy a lesser quality cable to bi-wire, or do I go for more expensive cable but only use single wire?

For example, looking at Chord speaker cables, a bi-wired Carnival Silverscreen will cost about the same as the equivalent length of single wired Rumour. The same applies for bi-wired Rumour to single wire Odyssey...

What will give me the best bang for my buck, buying better cable in single wire configuration or bi-wiring with cheaper cable???

I changed my speaker cable just this weekend, moving from QED Silver Anniversary bi-wire to Chord Epic Twin (single wire). The dealer I bought it from and Chord literature said that it is better to have a superior single wire that a lesser cable bi-wired. The message seems to be get the best you can afford. I also changed the gold plated metal strips for Chord Signature Links. These, together with the Epic cable sound great.
