Ok so i previously posted about advice on my upgrading to the CM series after discussing it with various people i am going for the following:

B&W CM8 (L/R)

B&W CM1 (rears)

BK XLS200 (sub)

Now the problem i have is the centre. For various reasons i can only put the centre above the TV (so high that the sound is terrible) or remove a drawer from the tv unit and place the centre in the space. Now... To do this i need to get a B&WHTM62 as its a perfect fit.. the issue is this leaves the flowport with little room to breathe. Would this effect the sound dramatically? Could i drill a hole where the flowport meets the cabinet? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Here is the rear of the speaker: http://img.canuckaudiomart.com/uploads/large/315196-bw_htm62_in_new_condition.jpg

Here is the unit i have:

The dimensions of the top drawer fits the HTM62 perfectly (only giving a few mm each side) my thought was can i simply remove the back part of the cabinet or cut a hole for the flowport?

I had similar issue but never got round to removing the back. My current speaker is closed. I did feel the centre was a little boxy but removing the back and possible port bungs.should solve any problems. I did research this problem here and elsewhere (AE speakers) and share these conclusions.

I would concentrate on setting up your CM8s up to image perfectly and continue to enjoy a 4.1 system. I think this would be better than suffering a compromised centre speaker experience.
