aspect ratio problem

Hi, I'm having a problem watching dvds and was wondering if anyone can tell me what I'm doing wrong. TV Sony Bravia KDL40 EX 503 Bluray Sony BDP-S730 If I'm just watching TV, I can adjust the aspect ratio to various settings, no problem. However, when I watch dvds, the 4:3 option is missing when I press the appropriate button on the TV remote, so I end up with short fat dumpy characters. Any advice welcome Thanks in advance Gordon

Assuming its similar to my setup -

Bluray - open up the menu and goto SCREEN SETTINGS.

Set:

TV TYPE 16:9

SCREEN FORMAT FIXED ASPECT RATIO

DVD ASPECT RATIO LETTER BOX

everything else to AUTO

tv - open up menu and goto SCREEN

Set:

SCREEN FORMAT WIDE

AUTO FORMAT ON

DISPLAY AREA FULL PIXEL

If you havnt already, make sure the bluray is upscaling to 1080P
