I also bought a DM50 from Richer Sounds, worked perfectly for 3 months, now it behaves randomly, muting the audio or increasing the volume to max, when nothing is being pressed on any remote control. Canton suggested re-learning the TV remote, but it hasn't solved the problem. So this one will be going back.

Hi

I am wondering if you can help me. Canton Customer support appears to be virtually non-existent. My DM 55 is 6 weeks old and it has become stuck in a loop and does not respond to my remote control. The loop goes ... "on" ... "dvd" ... "V70" ... "off" ... "on" ... "dvd" ..."V70" ... "off" ...............ad infintum!

Can you please help?

Thanks

Hi everyone,

can anyone give me any advise, my Canton DM50 is not responding to the remote, I've send the remote to repair as I thought that was the issue but now as return and still the same. On light is green and shows On then TV then V51 but when I press the remote nothing happens.

Any advise?

Hi, I'm new to this forum... I bought my unit about 2 years ago and around 2 months ago the audio started to do some crackling noises and then the audio competely stops.

I've left the unit off (and unplugged) for a few days... when I tried to use it again everything worked fine for the first 5 minutes and then the same issue appeared audio starts crackling and it finally goes dead. I tried again unplugging the unit for some time and re doing the steps I mentioned above and the same thing happened... any idea what could be causing this?

Thanks!

Sounds like either a dry solder joint or a component failing as it heats up in use. Without knowing the unit in question it's hard to diagnose, but a competent repairperson should be able to work it out fairly quickly.

Whether the cost of a repair will be worth it is really down to the amount of work involved, but if it's only two years old it'd be worth checking whether it's still under warranty (Canton covers its products for two years) or what your protection is under consumer law.
