for Technics TT.

2 different densities used

Why not. No cost other than buying the vibrapods originally a couple of years ago.

Can’t really do enough isolation for a TT.

Does it work? No idea. It’s not so much about footfall or acoustic feedback (I just don't listen loud enough) … perhaps more to reduce any vibrations generated by the deck itself feeding back into the platter/cartridge. By the time I do an A/B test a few minutes would have passed and it would be impossible to discern the difference which is likely minute. I do not have an accelerometer to measure either.

The more upper range ‘new’ Technics decks have further isolation in their plinths and in case of the top 1200G, a heavy full metal plinth I believe, though I may be wrong. The 100 and 1500 GR models have fibre mixed plastic bases and solid metal top plates. Mine is a basic 100C. Next thing will be to dampen and increase weight of the plinth. Anyway, I am just playing around a little, there are no real issues and it’s all easily reversible when time to move on comes.

Fantastic sound for such little money.

This from Analogue seduction:

"Vibrapods improve the performance of All HI-FI and A/V components by removing unwanted vibrations. Pop a set (4) of these feet underneath an Amplifier, CD Player, DAC , Pre-amp, Power Amp, Phono Stage, Speakers, Turntable, AV receiver etc, to be rewarded by cleaner sound and sharper video images to insure the highest level of musical and video performance." "From lightweight electronics to heavy speakers, the Vibrapods will improve dynamics, imaging and soundstaging."

Now I can see the point with a turntable and, they are relatively low cost compared to some vibration reducing devices but, solid state electronics?

Am I going to hear improved dynamics, imaging and soundstaging, if I stand my headamp on a set? Highly unlikely methinks.

Generally, solid-state electronics aren’t microphonic, so unlikely to make much difference. Unlikely, as you say.

But the expectation is huge, and I recall countless ‘experiments’ I tried in decades past where I always thought something had changed. Of course, whether it had, or whether it was an improvement at all, is the $64,000 question!

And contrary to my first sentence, way back, when the NAD3020 was the best selling amplifier by miles, there was an improvement to be had, repeatedly and emphatically. The original Mission Isoplat, a simple board with four hemispheres of Sorbothane, popped under the NAD made a worthwhile improvement. Further experimentation showed the transformer was pretty crude and with only 20wpc was often close to flat out much of the time. It buzzed in time with the beat, and ‘grounding’ that vibration thanks to the Isoplat, made the difference.

No idea but it costs little to find out and if nothing else it may look better 😁

New technics turntables are priced too high, when they are versions of built with cheaper materials, 70´s ones,

can´t believe that technics made it only to match bad quality in around 1.000€ turntables,

i if loosing everything i own, i would go for a SL-150 or SL-110, amplifiers would be the most closer to old 70´s regular integrated amplifiers, and speakers Wharfedale , B&W or Elac from what i´ve seen, new

Modern Technics decks have more advanced motors/control circuits and the further up the range one goes more advanced materials (and drives) are used.

Sure, they made some compromises with the lower ranges such as mine. It still feels very well made however compared to other decks I've looked at or owned. Nothing wrong with older Technics decks either.

My point, "nothing wrong with older technics decks either"but new ones seem done with weak material and functions are made half way to save money in the building ,not saying the SL-1000G or R is bad but the 79 model is way above the new one with also nagaoka mc cartridge made for it,

some seem to not know that the new 1000 as a nagaoka cartridge asked by technics to be made as in the 70´s technics cartridges were made by nagaoka ,

only in the 80´s Audio-technica started to built them with great quality.i have a lot of 70´s technics turntables also from Pioneer and other brands,

currentelly i´m using a SL-1310 with the 205 X and a optional 2m black from Otofon also a SL-3310 with the 207 C and a Grado Prestige III Gold as optional after two years i find the old ones better sounding ,

i notice the 2m Black as a frequencie response from 20 to 20Khertz and the grado more or less 7 to 32Khertz , it´s cheaper but the sound seems deeper than the 2m black ,

if the EPS-270ED as better sound than the 2M black, well after hearing both at least for one year it feels the old cartridge is better and all described in new good cartridges basically are the same as in the old ones that are even more detailed,

so i can not say wich is the better like in old days, 90´sto 70´s at least, stylus last a lot longer as before also sounded better, this are average quality cartridges if good ones were to be refered the Cadenza series from Ortofon seem like old MC cartridges built in the 70´s like the AT or even Pioneer and Nagaoka

To end i only in 77 started to have in use Ortofon stylus this in a 77 tagential Revox turntable, a well known model , it seemed the best cartridge i had ever heard, today cheap Ortofon is far from it´s glory days, there´s hana with great sounding cartridges but their prices are really high,

i have them because i can get them cheap but they cost a fortune, i was amazed by the model Umami red but had never seen it´s price listed in on-line stores, also cds no matter how good is the player will sound always narrower as it releases a lower volume but if at the same output level one notices failures in the cd version of an album, not that wider stereo efect,

cd sound printed in papers show how good they are but i find better the defective analogue sound of real instruments to a image not acurate of digital coverted sound of the same instruments

ok 🙂

Sorry, but that does not look aesthetically pleasing.

DG…
Totally agree 🙂

I don't find Technics decks especially nice looking anyway. Rega's are far more my style.

Going one step further, I don't like most exposed Hifi. Best to hide the stuff but unfortunately not an option right now.
